Just tried to download AVG 8.0

as per the warning in Martins email today. It took ages to download and then a little box popped up saying file corrupt and then the download stopped and clicked off

Does anyone know the problem please?

Thanks

if you have Nortons the
1. Click on the following link to download the Norton removal tool

ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe
2. Click Save and save the file to your desktop
3. Close all Norton Application windows you may have open, and double-click on Norton_Removal_Tool.exe to start the removal tool. Windows Vista users will have to right-click on the file and select "Run as Administrator"
4. After the removal tool finishes, you should be prompted to restart your computer.
5. Once the computer restarts, your Norton product should be uninstalled

i don't know whether i have done the right thing, but i have just removed AVG in favour of AVAST.

on a few occasions i have had to re install AVG before it would update correctly.

Also having tried avast on DD lappy first, it seemed to be less of a system hog. and the computer ran quicker.

though this could just be psychological.
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow.. :p

I've had AVG installed on my PC since July and still have McAfee installed also. Probably a daft question but what harm does it do having McAfee still installed and does the un-install program mentioned above work ok for Vista ? Thanks

Same thing happened to me. I too had to restall (twice ina s many months) to receive the updates
Ive since tried Avira (A LOT quicker)
and now trying Avast again (Just out of intrigue really), which is also quicker
So no, its not just psychological :p

The uninstall program does work for Vista and you REALLY should remove Mcafee
Your putting your computer at risk if you dont

I would also recommend a decent firewall
SUNBELT or COMODO or ZONEALARM
• Ok I'm back on to the job of making sure my computer is protected. As I have said in earlier posts I am not very techie so please bare with me. I've o just checked what protection I have on my computer at t he moment and it seems I have McAfee and Windows Firewall, is that enough? Is it ok to stick with these instead of installing the AVG 8.0?

Thanks
