Did I make a mistake?
I wanted to upgrade my orange phone and I wanted the Orange C600 free, 1000 text and 120mins for £25 plus £50 airtime (Student offer).
Orange eventually agreed to me having this offer which apparently was only open to new customer. However they offered me the Orange c600 for £15, 1000 text and 120 mins for £25 and no airtime. I said no thanks as it's not the same offer as for a new customer.
I got my PAC code, but I'm now starting to regret it. Would you say I made a mistake?

It does seem very odd... although i understand they want to lure new customers in, surely they would want to keep money making customers happy too, though this obviously depends on how much profit you're making them!
This is incredibly similar to what I'm hoping to do, i'm just waiting for a decent phone to come out (as much as I like the SPV's (i have the C500 atm) i fancy something more stylish)
I'm an orange customer spending around £600pa atm, and unless they're willing to give me the student deal (i am a student), free phone AND £50 airtime, i'll be cancelling my contract. Worst case scenario is i go into the orange shop and take out a new contract?! That's if i don't get tempted away by a cashback deal.
(though i don't know if orange will refuse me a contract when/if i reapply, is that possible?)0 -
This is one of the reason I left Orange, they offer you a POORER contract than one for new customers, talk about looking after your own!
Have a look on some of the other networks, I bet you'll find a decent deal :xmassmile** Mobile Phones.... I'm here to help **0 -
I have to be honest, as a student, and assuming you'll take advantage of the free texts and minutes, there's no better deal out there with such a wide variety of handsets! the £50 airtime is equivalent of 2 months line-rental on the basic tariff... it's not often orange offer you something like that!0

What I found insulting was that, I initially asked how much the c600 is and he said £30, I mentioned the student deal and he said no that's not avaialble, we're giving you the c600 for 30 for being loyal. !!! I said, that's not very loyal of you to give me the c600 for £30 whe your giving enw customers more for nothing.
He then said, well when you started yoru contract you got a good offer... I called his bluff and I got he c500 for 30 on the ovp 200 (I didn't mention that I got the c600 on a 12mnth cashback deal )
Richard, I have spent prolbably £480 on my contract, I reckon you should be able to get the phone free, not sure about the £50 airtime. Orange are slowest when it comes to new phones, Vodafone have the snazziest followed by O2. Again, I hope someone can confirm that I can comeback to Orange as a new customer, bloody ridiculous policy they have.0 -
mike, I've looked around but only orange have the c600, but I'm tempted at getting the tmboile vario\ o2 mini (or o2 xda exec which is £170 inc 12mnth cont!) but i like the c500 and im sure ill like the c600!0

Orange are pants at offering existing customers good retention deals.. Get yourself over to O2 if the coverage etc is good in your area. When you phone the O2 Retention Team saying that your leaving they offer excellent deals to retain your custom.
One of the best deals O2 offer is called the Discount 500 tariff..ie this is when a customer phones O2 saying that there going to 3 as they are offering 500 X Net Mins for £xx per month. O2 will match the 3 tariff and better the price.
I'm on the Discount 500 tariff and pay £10.00 per month for 500 X Net mins and 400 Texts0 -
crikey!! that'd do me!
i take it that's not an offer open to new customers :rolleyes:0 -

You have to be with O2 and coming to the end of your 12 month contract before they offer you it.
I think they would certainly offer you it if your spending £600 per year..Get connected to O2 and give them a phone after your years contract is up.0 -
