You stated specifically that you want a 2.5" drive.
You obviously cannot even read. Dimwit.:rotfl:

I'd like to hope that dyslexia rather than malice is actually the heart of the problem, here. (And, indeed, elsewhere. )

you'd now be better off living in one.

Oh, I think in your case it really is malice (given your vitriol)

It's extremely inconsiderate to everybody when you post an atrocity of butchered English on the scale that you did. There is much to wade through on this website.

I've just realised - you're trying to employ irony! How sweet.

Memo to our aspiring Professor "in a branch of Linguistics" up unspecified tree: "irony" is not "employed", it's "deployed". The unpretentious simply "use" it.
I, however, was resorting to neither.

Thank you for that. I had indeed not noticed that little fact.:rotfl:
Accepting it is in fact a 3.5", is Buffalo a reliable make?
Oh and can we cease the one up manship, its got beyond funny. Thanks0 -

Any one with any experience of Buffalo External Hard drives?

I've come across a couple - one owned by a friend who is very happy with it. It's bulky but she doesn't care, as it's desk-bound.
The other was given to me as faulty. I took it apart and the drive itself was fine (and made by Western Digital IIRC) - the USB interface circuitry had failed.
I wouldn't read too much into that - most of us here don't handle enough of any one make of a product to provide any really meaningful statements about reliability.
FWIW I like Samsung drives, but that's just because I've bought several and never had one fail.0 -

You are the one who commenced it, posting an offensively sarcastic invitation to give lessons in English comprehension to the natives after posting an almost incoherent piece of (factually inaccurate) English yourself, and it is you and your daughter who have kept coming back here in misguided and illiterate efforts at one-upmanship in (of all things) the use of English.
It will continue until both of you finally desist, yourselves.
To return to the actual topic of this thread, the cheapest 3.5" 500GB external hard drive I have come across, personally, is this one at £48.92.
The cheapest 2.5" external hard drive I have come across, personally, is this one at £117.22.
But this one, at £130.68 is greatly more appealing to users of Macs because it has Firewire 800 and Firewire 400 ports as well as USB2. (And it will most certainly run off a single Firewire port.)
But I haven't done forensic research on the prices of 500 GB alternatives because I am not currently in the market for either. Others, here, may know of cheaper and will, perhaps, be kind enough to post links to them.
