Asian dvds on ebay

I have bought a few dvds from ebay with Asian writing on them.
Not wanting to sound dumb but are they copies?
Ebay do not shut these sellers down. But people selling obvious copies get shut down quickly.
The quality is very good.
Boxes look genuine.
They are released before they are released in the UK.
I want to resell them but don't want to get done for selling copies.

are these typically boxed sets? if so they come from sites such as https://www.taomart.com. my understanding is that they are very good copies, but copies all the same.
i've bought some myself and they are fine, but ultimately people selling copies come to a sticky end, either through bad feedback or ebay suddenly NARU'ing you as someone has reported you.0 -

It depends for example if they are currently on at the cinema then they are copies but if they are newish films they could be just asian imports as genuine asian DVD's carry chinese writing on the boxes you could check on sites that sell asian DVD's for example https://www.cd-wow.com and see if they have them listed0 -
I got Lost that is not out over yet (well the full season isn't) I also got others that are out already. The boxes have holograms and barcodes on them but the dvds are in plastic wallets inside the boxes. The quality is very good.
One of the sellers has been active for nearly two years without being shut down by ebay.
People selling copies seem to be shut down by ebay. Well some I have looked at have.
I don't want to get into trouble reselling anything if they are dodgy but they seem so genuine!!Wendy0 -

The full series of Lost has been out in the USA on Region 1 DVD for a while now so it coulbe be genuine but not sure of the Chinese release schedules0 -

I bought an 'asian import'. It was a dvd-r copy with dodgy artwork. It had no hologram and was clearly a copy. Sent it back and got refund. I have reported people selling copy dvd's but Ebay had done nothing they are still selling them even though their listing clearly says DVD-r.

Their disks are often as good a quality as the genuine articles (sometimes even better). You can easily tell if they are legitimate Asian disks or just good copies by seeing if it plays on a normal (not multi-region) UK DVD player - if it does, it is fake (Asia uses regions 3, 5 and 6) (Actually Japan uses region 2 - but they use NTSC encoding so should still encounter some troubles, although legitimate Japanese disks would play).
Personally, I like proper UK or US disks - I don't want things with Chinese writing on it or which may be fakes.
well summarised! all taomarts disks play on any dvd player. By virtue of the fact that these 'asian imports' that the OP is talking about buying to resell play on uk units then they must be copies then.
Personally, i never think its a good idea to sell copies in such a high profile and trackable way as ebay but thats just my opinion.
Buying them for personal use is one thing (and i do!) selling them on ebay is another....0 -
They do play on all dvds so I think I will agree and say they must be very good copies. I have decided not to sell them on as it is not worth getting in trouble for a few pounds!! Thanks for clearing that up everybody.Wendy0
