Ending my 3 mobile contract...how to?
I've had enough of 3 and the worsenning coverage..."Error in connection" etc...
I want to move to Vodafone sim only (at least its only 30 day contract if its rubbish)
what is the correct order to do this....
my 3 contract ends on 25th November (end of 18 months)
I want to unlock the phone (£15 charge from 3 as I understand it)
I want my PAC code to transfer to Vodafone
I want to make sure my contract with 3 is finished
what is the correct order to do this....I dont want to request the PAC code first for example in case 3 then blocks my phone and I cant contact them to get it unlocked.....this might sound a bit stupid...but I'm not a phone expert
Many Thanks

Ask for your pac code and use it. Once the transfer goes through your contract with 3 ends and they'll final bill you. It should be as simple as that !
3 won't block your phone, nothing happens until you use your pac (and the new network transfers the number).0 -
As well as the fixed agreed period, there is 30 days notice after that, so if you contact them today it would end on 17th December. I don't know of verbal is good enough, or they'll insist on in writing as well.
The PAC number has a period of 30 days from when it's issued. If it isn't used at all - like you decide to just have a new number after all - then the contract doesn't get cancelled either (so if so remember to give notice again without a PAC).
Unlocking, I don't know when - ask for it now, or maybe not until your last week or so.
So I'd suggest you contact CS, say you want to give notice, ask about the PAC now, and for info about unlocking. They may give the PAC in a couple of days from now, or only a week before the notice is up - I don't know.
In about 25 days time, give Vodafone the PAC, which takes a couple to a few days. Get the unlock code from 3 if you haven't by then, or in accordance with what they say now.
The contract will end on the date of the PAC transfer, which won't necessarily be the exact day you want. And that might be a reason not to do it too early, as you'd still pay rental to the 30 days notice anyway.
As monthly rental is paid in advance, and 3 can't predict when or whether you'll actually move, or whether you'll use more than your call bundle anyway, they'll have charged you into the future, and there should be a final bill with probably a part-month refund due. I don't know if they transfer this back automatically, or if you have to ask0 -
you can ask for PAC 7 days prior to your contract completion date as it takes 7 days to PAC to another network
25Nov -7 days = YESTERDAY !
BINGO ! call 333 & get PAC & pay £15 for your unlock code ( issued couple of days later ), order Voda today & give PAC, 27th you will be FR33 and now on Voda ( good luck with thier scripted 3rd party non Vodafone employee call centres - at least 3 has the INDIA excuse & they are employed DIRECTLY by Hutchison 3 Global Service Private Ltd Company!, India - the Hutch company servicing 3(Y)UK, 3 Ireland & 3Australia customers )SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... what handset you have Torby ? also when you get your letter ( request one ) confirming PAC & your last bill, nip down to your local Nokia Repair Centre ( for example ) and show them contract completion/PAC confirmation & ask that GENERIC Nokia software be installed....or else the phone will only lock to 3G signal by default
I had this problem on Orange with ex 3 handset
Causes problem on your new telco's sim where most the time a weak 3G signal gets preference over a full 2G signal - generic handset manufacturer software sorts problem, no cost as handset warrenty 24 months from contract start date & contract completed 12 or 6 months prior to expiry depending on your 12/18 month contract lengthSO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... thanks for that....Nokia 6288....have got it unlocked by 3 and already signed up for vodafone monthly sim....I know it may be frying pan into fire....but at least on sim only....I only need 30 days notice....besides...Quidco are offering £90 on sim only contracts from Vodafone....if they dont work. I'll move on again I suppose.

no problem, get to a nokia repair point with your proofs if you have call problems on 6288 and get the Nokia generic software installed, good luck with Voda, as you said 30 day term is not a jail sentence with bad screws LOL, you can always just grant yourself parole in 30 daysSO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies...
