GOING OFF-TOPIC
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: While it’s easy to wander off-topic that often prevents newbies finding the information they want quickly and easily (please see this rule). Please keep this thread on topic. If you’d like to discuss non-MoneySaving related topics please continue your discussion in The MoneySavers Arms or Discussion Time. Its one of the main reasons I wont go back to Sky, preferring my V+, the fact my box is still "rented", its always repaired upgraded or replaced for free, for as long as I have it.
I still have my Sky analogue and digital box, stashed in a cupboard, having no use whatsoever to me, I do remember the constant problems I had with the digital Sky box, and agreed after 12 months, having to "pay" for them to fix the thing everytime it regularly went belly up, or have to buy a new one, just so i can watch a service I pay for, put me off to the point where I went with cable.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Perhaps he's like some of the Sky installers, who, when Sky pass on a job to them, they bring a new box....but swop with a refurbished....or when they do a "new" install....they use an existing dish, keep the new one in the van, then sell it on....and before you say about your "neighbour" who may or may not be wonderful.....I know for a fact....and so do others on this web site....that this happens....
by the way, I live in a bungalow, and I can reach my LNB standing on a milk crate....and finally, just because something has "12 mths g'tee" doesnt mean to say it wouldn't be repaired or replaced even after the 12 months....it happens possibly more than you think.
"Just to add before the "We hate edna" group comes along"....do you make a habit of making posts that attract that type of feeling, perhaps you hate yourself for making these types of comments? Could it be you welcome the attention by being derisive to other posters? Does it make you feel wanted or needed?
Not sure where you get your info from but my OH works for sky too and when he gets sent to a service call, which OP would be, he gets issued with a re-furb box, he can give a new box if he has bother with the re-furb box, but he cant use a re-furb and then keep the new box because every box he has needs allocating to a job, if ones missing he'd have to pay for it! Also as for dishes, yes he can have as many as he likes, he doesnt have to steal from a job, no one wants to buy them anyway and he's quite happy to put new dishes up if old ones rusty or discoloured.
And also you dont need to be tied to a new 12mnth contract everytime you blag a service call out of sky. Most people OH sees aren't tied in, sky just offer the "free" service call to keep you, they know if they give you a new/re-furb box you're likely to stay a while anyway. Also theres only a 3 mnth warranty to a re-furb box, so why would they tell you you need a 12mnth contract.
Well done OP for getting a free service call!
