Looking for pay as you drive car insurance for OVER 25's

Options
Hi

Does anyone know of any pay as you drive insurance providers who cater for the over 25's? Its just that i only use my car during 6 months of the year (i work offshore on the rigs) rest of the time the car stays in the garage and i still have to pay the full yearly premium (£600)......soooooo unfair. BTW i am aged 29.

Cheers.

    Hi

Why don't you try easyMoney Car Insurance - another no frills product from Stelios - they offer car insurance from £10/month

    http://www.easymoneyinsurance.com/easy/home/home.htm

if you make no claims then it works out ok. But if you make a claim you have to call through on a premium rate number - so charges occur at the time of a claim - hense they call it a pay as you go insurance. Pick through their Terms and Conditions before going ahead with them to fully understand the limitations and costs of using them.

    Regards
    Phil
  • Gulp - I've just got a quote from Stelios and it's half what I'm paying now. First job of the new year will be to switch. Thank you MSE, I'm gonna be loaded by the end of 2006.

Thanks Phil for that. But easymoney are quoting me £807, which is 200 pounds more than my current insurer (Direct Line). I only have 2 years no-claim discount and its a fairly big car, Audi A4 2004 model.

    Hi

I am unsure of payg insurers but in the past Elephant https://www.elephant.co.uk have given good very competitive quotes, they do a 10 month excellerator policy to build your NCB up faster. Worth looking at.

    Are the 6 months contiguous?
If so you can phone your insurance co and convert over to fire and theft only cover.

Otherwise phone round every insurance co you can find; I'm sure you can do better than £600.

    Hi

No, i work offshore for 4 weeks then get 4 weeks leave so i use my car on and off for a total of 6 months in 1 year. The car is worth 21k (i bought it new in June 2005), no insurance company will allow me to insure it on 'fire and theft' cover....only comprehensive. I only started driving 2 years ago (even though i've had my licence for >10 years), when i first took out my policy with Direct Line on my old car, they gave me a 1 year No Claims Discount cos i was over 25, but that extra 1 NCD only applies to a Direct Line
policy...currently i have 3 years NCD with Direct Line but if i was to move insurers, Direct Line would only state i have 2 years NCD. Did a search on https://www.moneysupermarket.com for car insurance, nothing beats the £600 i am paying to Direct Line :(
