Many thanks. I'm very distressed by all of this.0 -
Just out of interest really.
The bit which confuses me is the "go for a walk", I'm sure you have a right to watch the MOT, most places have a viewing area.
At my last test the tester allowed me to walk around the test with him and explained what he was looking for, the test was during the week and instead of being 40 minutes (full test) we were chatting for 90 minutes!0 -

Yes, I didn't think it suspicious at the time, I thought he just didn't want me to have to wait around, but in hindsight it is all a bit odd, and the fact that they made me fight to get the paperwork, and lied about it being in the car, is really disturbing. It is a garage in Luton and I will have to think about how to take this further. A friend recommended them so he is not happy about me making a complaint, but I am far too stubborn to ignore this kind of behaviour, I'm furious! They don't have any kind of viewing area. They are a bit backward actually, considering that some garages now have an understanding that people want to sit and wait in comfort. They also said that if the other garage are willing to pass the car based on these values, they are breaking the law. I said well I'm going back there to get it done. I've wasted £50 and lots of time with these idiots,, and just want an end to the whole thing, but am tempted to give them some grief about it, if I can prove they were in the wrong.0 -
Luton eh? PM a name... I had a very similar experience at Supertyres
Try Autocraft in Houghton Regis.0 -
Also disturbing is that they had no paperwork to prove they had even done a retest, and when I went back I had to insist, and almost the guy argued with me just because I wanted a printout. I said I needed evidence from both garages, how else could I take it forward. At this point he didn't offer the paperwork, but asked me to wait. The next minute they drove the car into the testing station and did the emissions test. No explanation for no paperwork, no apology, no apology for me waiting shaking in the cold for another half hour. What !!!!!!!s. They clearly had no printout when i asked because they had not even bothered to retest it. Perhaps I should have waited outside the garage to see. By contrast the other garage produce photos of what they have done and are good communicators, give a free courtesy car, don't cost a fortune. There is more to it than just fixing the car, but some people are too ignorant to notice this, and I suppose they also don't notice that people don't have money to throw away, just because they want to take it. Quite disgusting the more I think about it.0

You can see my moan here http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=15667331&postcount=42
About S C Young of Supertyres/MOT Center and him failing items which were not failures in the eyes of another tester and missing things that should of been a fail in the eyes of another tester.

I can't rate Autocraft highly enough, the guy there was easily 55+ and knew everything there is to know.0 -
