Esure car insurance....never took the direct debit

Hi there. I recently came off Norwich Union PAYD car insurance and took out an esure policy on 19th Oct, to start on 31st Oct. Anyhow, the letter they sent with all the policy documents/schedule, as well as asking for proof of no claims and of when last policy ended, said to check the direct debit details, and the payment would be taken 31st Oct. Now, I did send in the documents (although sent in a letter from NUPAYD for when it ended, as my documents had various incorrect dates in the renewal quote for a new non payd policy). I checked the dd and it was correct. It's now 19th Nov and they still haven't taken any money from my account. If I wasn't worried that perhaps I'm not covered then for car insurance, I'd be glad the money's in my bank and not theirs. I tried to log in to the esure website with my details (existing policy), but it says technical fault and to call their helpline. I know it's being silly, but I don't see why I should phone them on an 0845 number to make sure they have their money. I don't see why they're not taking it, or haven't contacted me if there's a problem in some way.
I will phone them tomorrow when I get the chance anyhow, but I did wonder, has anybody had similar problems with esure? Where they didn't take the money for a long time?

There are rules on when they can take the money. They have to give you notice before they try to debit your account.
As for the 0845 numbers, I looked on www.saynoto0870.com and found the following alternatives for you:
01737 222222
0141 2483377 - That's the Glasgow office switchboard number
Try these first if you have a phone package that gives you free minutes or 01 numbers, then try:
0800 0282498
Hope this helps. In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move. The late, great, Douglas Adams.0 -

They actually gave me notice saying they would collect on 31st Oct, then just...didn't. I also looked up saynoto0870, a couple of days ago, and those numbers above had put me through to halifax insurance. Maybe they're the same though, so I'll try again and this time just ask them. I get free calls to 01 evening and weekends on my landline, and in my free mins on my mobile. Thanks for taking the time to reply0
