Is it worth buying extended warranty for PS3?

No, but taking out a warranty won't address that issue. If the warranty provider can fix it, so can someone else. Just pay them to do so out of all the money you save over the years ...gaming_guy wrote: »would you want to loose a (rarish?) 60gb ps3 that had the production chopped ages ago?0 -
but you don't need to pay anybody to fix it when it's covered under the sale of goods act.0

Well, you still won't need the warranty then, which was the point I was really making. Spend the money on beer instead: :beer:scheming_gypsy wrote: »but you don't need to pay anybody to fix it when it's covered under the sale of goods act.0 -

Yep, and they still do so without taking out their extended warranty & long may it continue. Touch wood, my 60 giger is almost silent & ticking along nicely atm...........:DWhat if the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about !!!0 -
My PS3 launch day 60gb has just broke, it wont leave standby red light, with Call of duty world at war disc stuck inside. Sony UK have said it has overheated, even though I told them it has been treated with care and given plenty of ventilation. They have charged me £145 for a refurb 60gb, which will arrive next week. The support guy also said Sony are now charging for faulty consoles as of Feb 09 and it is back to business for Sony.
I still feel this is a manufacturers fault, with the console but they insist only 1000 out of 4 million have been returned? I am suspicious!
The extended warranty is £5 per calendar month, in effect £60 a year.0 -
