Help with broadband providers

I have just purchased a new computer after a flood wiped out my last one. I was with virgin option 2 @£17.99 per month as i didn't want tying to a contract and i was happy with their service.
I am wondering if there are any better deals out there for me. I do not have a broadband modem.
What i am looking for is a package i am not tied to. Minimum 512K speed and the flexibility to take my computer out to spain with me when i move without the hassle of changing providers and not forgetting a reasonable monthly fee...???
Can anyone please help me as i am not sure what to do.
