I must go and recce our Costco, its a new one and everyone is raving about it..I've never been that impressed by Makro so didn't see the point in going to Costco as you have to pay to join.

  • now that is a very good idea joolz, I had never thought about hiding tins etc below the kitchen plinths
  • I also have the top unit of a modular dresser against my kitchen wall. It is not as deep as a dresser and holds a lot. I got one with 4 doors and it looks good too without the base and the beauty is that I can move it easily ie if needed it can go in a lounge if I ever downsize again

Well I'm a shareholder too in an indirect way, as many of us unwittingly are, as I've no doubt that quite apart from anybody holding shares or unit trusts, virtually all our pension schemes will hold investments in the major supermarkets. And as a shareholder I expect the companies in whom my money is invested to behave ethically. That specifically includes paying their bills on time and not letting small suppliers struggle with their cash flows to the point where some of them are are being almost run out of business.

I agree Primrose. It would be nice to see the big companies behave in a way in which we would like to be treated.

Sophiesmum - fab pics, wish my stores were even half as tidy as yours!

Well my boilerman is coming back out again sometime today to have a look and see why it went out, finger's crossed that it won't be to pronounce it dead, but I'm not holding my breath! Ah well, at least we're saving money with no central heating - though the kids are getting less impressed with that reasoning!

Caterina, it was lovely to see that one of your resolutions (on another thread) was to build in some treats for yourself, you deserve them so don't forget that resolution!

Thank you for reminding me mummysaver, it is probably one of the biggest challenges of my life to remember to look after no.1 rather than putting all the others first! Isn't this the case with most mothers of a family though?

Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Sparrer - do you keep a spare can opener, camping stove and wind up lantern there too, just for midnight snacks!

Well I'm off to the bank to persuade them to let me have some of my money, since my new cards haven't yet arrived, cash isn't something I usually carry, no I'm not the Queen! I just rarely have more than about £10 in real money on me, it seems to evaporate otherwise! Will hopefully make it to Aldi to get some potatoes, bet the offer has finished, ah well, need veg of all sorts so sure there will be something I need.
