Bad news Greenqueen, Im so sorry that has happened to you both. There seems to be a lot of bad news on here, may not ease the blow but we are all here for you to rant to anytime, don't bottle it up - I assure you, from experience, that is not a good thing to do. Have a trawl through the posts on MSE between job hunting and see how much spirit of survival and humour is on here to keep you going.

:) ...and a little bit of good news...

On my shopping expedition today to Sainsbury's,,,I spotted them at a distance, stalked them carefully and then - fast as lightning - scooped them into my trolley without a moments hesitation!

    Sainsburys Basics are back! :j

    Teabags 32p
    Curry Sauce 13p
    Milk choc digestives 30p
    Noodles 11p
    Custard sachets 9p
    100 nappy sacks 9p ...etc...etc ...etc

and I even got some lovely individually wrapped bars of Aloe Vera & Cucmber Soap for 10p which will come in handy to fill some Xmas hampers :T

Another small victory at the Post Office - they were selling boxes of last years Xmas cards off (they are already selling 2011 diaries!) 14 big, good quality cards & envelops for 50p! :j

Plus Farm Foods are doing a deal on Hovis bread - any two large loaves for £1 - were on offer in Sainburys last week at 2 for £1.80-2.00 so another saving there.

On the way home, called at a newly opened 'food warehouse' 10lb of Boston Grown new potatoes for £2 and found that the place is packed with "approved foods" and relabbelled stuff - 2 York$hire Tea fruit loaves for a £1, 25kg bag of Complete Dog Food £6.99

Came home ladened down and £7 under budget ! :)

Yaaaay successful hunt then ! ...maybe a safari-type pith helmet would do as a change from the black balaclava. After all, we don't want to draw attention to ourselves do we ?

Wow!! Well done, maybe Messers C & C could take a leaf out of your book and cut costs by buying Basics Tea bags for the ministerial offices. Think I just made a joke:think:.

Well done Charlies-Aunt! Isn't it great when something like that happens? I had the opposite experience, I had £20 Tesco's vouchers and decided I would stockup on a few things like dog/cat food, frozen veg etc. And a little treatie for me maybe. Well I spent over £20, with no treatie, and don't feel I got much for it really. The dogfood and cat food was expensive so even with free vouchers I couldn't bring myself to buy it, the same with coffee - far dearer than I would normally spend. Is this the sign of a true graduate from the mse university?

I'm going to Wilkos and Nettos tomorrow for petfood then will spend nothing for as long as I can, this lot will last me a week anyway, but I'm going to see how much longer it will go.

I really love those Sainsbury's basics chocolate digestives, thank goodness there's no Sainsbury's near me!

Oh well done Charliesaunt, nice to hear a success, needless to say I think I will pop in when Im down near Mr S and get some of that soap - might try it in the dry gloop for handwashing, its worth a try!

I would love a pith helmet, I know its not my usual black but be good to scare the locals. So its now a hunt instead of an assault, hmmm sounds better.

ive just had something really nice happen. A good friend was giving me her old bread maker to try and fix as she had been bought a new one as a pressie - and lo and behold Dh and Ds have just been to do her a little job (Ds is is muscle now but Dh is the brains) and she sent me a brand new bread maker for my birthday, I actually had tears in my eyes.
