I wouldn't believe govt or official figures if they told me today was Wednesday !
You mean you DON'T believe that the cost of living has gone down by 0.1 of a percent?
I suppose you are one of these people who think that inflation is where the government gets the printing press out and prints more money, and that rising prices is the SYMPTOM of inflation. I suppose you also think that quantitative easing is just a fancy term for inflation.
I am shocked. SHOCKED.0 -

Couldn't agree more!
I am firmly of the opinion that you can make statistics prove anything. There was an epic sketch on 'Yes Minister' which showed a good example of it.
I loved that programme and have watched a few again recently on an old digital channel. Sadly it now seems more like a documentary!!!:rotfl:0 -
....plantar fasciitis....
The pain is indescribable at times, yet another it is almost like nothing's wrong--really weird [like the sufferer I hear you cry
]--& now my knee is playing up big time. I walk along as though I'm on a raft in the middle of a Force 10 gale in the middle of the North Sea...
Having seen the number of posts on this particular volume of the thread, I wondered if it might be time to begin the next instalment. It's pretty obvious that things are not going to improve to a noticable degree any time soon, so perhaps we should think of moving to a bigger thread...bit like those 'available in 10,000 weekly parts; get a binder free with pt 752!' but a helluva lot more interesting

Entitled 'It's still tough and not getting better so how are we coping?" ???
Yup, plantar fasciitis is yucky and I am so grumpy being stuck indoors. I have ordered some night splints off the internet. They look like nothing on earth and are hideously expensive but if they work I don't care. I don't know why they're not available on NHS
And my cucumber, which I picked with great glee, was bitter! I was gutted. Even the dog spat it out!!
I really hope I can snap out of this mopey mood soon. My 'Aunty Flo' is visiting any day. She'd better bl**dy hurry up, I can't take much more of this PMS thing  Be afraid, be very afraid!!Aspire not to have more but to be more.

Well the cutbacks in public sector jobs have already started. I was called into a meeting last Thursday to be told our place was no longer viable due to a lack of funding. Basically it was ..dont bother coming back in next week! That`s just 2 days notice and I`ve worked for them for 8 years (am on garden leave), So here I am sitting at home wondering whats going to happen after my redundancy money runs out, probably just before Xmas. I`ve met some of my customers/clients/service users who are all devastated that there is now no facility available to them- it`s literally life changing for them and myself and my work colleagues.0

I spoke too soon about getting a water meter fitted, I found out today that my pay is going down by £120 a month, what joy. I may have to look for another lodger. I shall try a couple of other things first, though not sure what yet.
My raised bed is coming along a treat thanks Ceridwen, it has had the desired effect as not only has it given hubby a hobby, he's also deciding to plant veggies in other parts of the garden & keep the raised bed for carrots & onions.

I hear from the news that the unemployement figures have fallen by 34,000, just can't help wondering if this is the calm before the storm, with all the cuts that are being planned. .
It could be due to seasonal demand, holiday camps taking on Summer staff, coastal resorts etcLoved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!0 -
Hi all that Plantar thingummy is very painful, I had it two years ago, and couldn't believe how sore just putting your foot on the floor can be.I do sympathise, I have to have 'happy feet' or I become a very grumpy old woman indeed0

Or that those people who have stopped receiving jobseekers allowance for whatever reason have fallen off the figures as they only count people in receipt of benefit....or did I make that up?!0
