Yes,
There is a waitrose on Byres Road, where the somerfield used to be, just behind the grosvenor.
I think this part is kinda posh but more studenty I suppose. There's one in Edinburgh somewhere, but I don't know where as I don't frequent that part of the world.
I've not been in the Scottish waitrose, my brother uses it though and says it's very nice, although, they wouldn't be seen dead buying reduced stuff - that kind of thing is left to me, (no wonder they are always skint):rotfl:0 -
I dont know Waitrose in Edinburgh, but there is a John Lewis. Goblin, you're obviously much posher than I am.
I'm following the advice somebody gave on here, and going to spend a week living on practically nothing, just to see if we can. I already did yesterday on home made soup and salad stuff from the garden.
I hate marge - does anybody know if you can make a DIY blend of marge & butter and will it keep ? And how hard is it to actually make butter yourself ?0 -

Hi Charlies-Aunt
Clothes. Batteries. Maybe a new electric razor for my head.
I'm not sure. You will have to check this with a qualified accountant, but you might be able to pay some bills in advance and just incur the present rate of VAT. I am mindful of the time when Norman Lamont introduced VAT on utilities, and you could avoid it by paying a massive lump sum to the utilities b4 the VAT came into effect, and you got a free ride till the lump sum ran out.0 -

I am also thinking of stocking up before next Tuesday but not sure what to get.
It is different from store to store.
My seems to start reducing in the evening for the next day as well as todays items.
But to get the really reduced items it seems to be from 6.30pm onwards. I was in there about 7ish last night.
I overheard it being said by a member of staff to another customer that they have to reduce in the order there hand held computer tells them. So they can't just reduced all the fruit first then the meat etc.
it is just of case of popping and see. Of course you never know what you are going to get. I have had dozen organic/ free range eggs for 29p :eek:and bread for 19p a loaf. But eggs does not happen very often.
And all the staff are lovely and the shop so much nicer since it changed over from another supermarket.
Best just to keep popping in and certain times in the evening and see what they have got. And if you are really brave you could even ask the person who is reducing the goods at roughly what time they do it. Also it is not like the scrum it is over at sainburys.
Yours

I have good news for a change. OH had been looking and talking to another compnay since February, but was starting to despair as it was all taking so long. But eventually everyone had talked to everyone else and agreed, so he has got a new job!! He has an email of the contract, but we're just waiting on the hard copy in the post. But he gave his notice yesterday to his current job - celebrations!!
And because he's been there 6 months of this year, I am trying to persuade him to take the 2 weeks leave he has accrued - I think he was secretly hoping to get "gardening leave", but they didn't do that. So now I am working on the hols - even if he just stays home alone and reads and digs and relaxes a little!GC 2010 €6,000/ €5,897

does anybody know if you can make a DIY blend of marge & butter and will it keep ? And how hard is it to actually make butter yourself ?
It's so simple to make, even I make it
I use whipping or double cream and once made cut it into small blocks and pop into the freezer, I'm still using the stuff I made from xmas whoopsied cream.

I hardly ever get to a supermarket for whoopsies but its another skill learned which can't be bad. I will price it out and try it and see what we think.. Today I am playing with chickweed. Got tons of the stuff and I know you cna make soup with it, and ointment. Need to (NEED TO) have another pot of tea and do some searching in my books/internet for how to make the ointment.;)
