Thanks all.
Well obviously things will be getting a little tougher for us financially with bump on the way - still shocked i think but excited all the same.
My mum has a cot bed at her house though with a brand new mattress which she has said i can have which is nice, and i still have Bens old moses basket too so that can be put in the front room for his day time naps.
Am considering reusable nappies at the minute although not sure how boyfriend friendly they will be. :rotfl: and hoping to breast feed as long as possible but i only managed two weeks with ben before mastitis in both breasts set in so he had to go to bottle feeds.
Clothes wise we decided to stick to the minimum - so basic white body suits, baby grows etc. My nan has already started knitting so I guess that's the winter wardrobe taken care of too and we came to the conclusion that last time when we had Ben everyone brought him clothes so there will be plenty of gender specific clothes brought once he/she arrives although we are having the second scan next month and want to find out the sex as Bens first job as the big brother is hes wants to go out and buy the baby its first item of clothing.Time to find me again0 -
Congrats, SammyKaye. That explains why you were feeling so grim, maybe?
Huge Welsh hugs.
If you see me on here - shout at me to get off and go and get something useful done!!0 -
Fingers crossed that you're able to breastfeed. Apart from the health aspect, it's so much easier than bottlefeeding. No bottles to sterilise, no having to prepare feed and waiting for it to heat up if you've had it in the fridge etc and of course, the milk's free!0

I was happy that we were doing well up to recently. My pay went down, but I was still fine and even still putting money into savings. DH's pay went down, but more that his bonus was stopped than regular paycheque. (Well, increased taxes didn't help, but we were jsut cutting out some luxuries rather than penny-pinching). But now we have both had paycuts and we are trying to see what that means to our budgets.
I know we are still in a good place. We both still have jobs (well, DH for the time being - his company may not survive, but mine is guaranteed). The only debt we have is the mortgage which we can reschedule if need be (back to original terms as we had kept payments at old levels when rates fell so have overpaid for past 3/4 years). We have economical cars, that are cheap to insure, tax and run and that are in good order. DH is going to make the lottie be more productive this year (he's on a 4 day week now) than last so even more veg savings.
But we are worried about what way things will be in the next year. DH's company looks to be in real trouble and the whole sector will be down for a long time. So it's the long term outlook for his career that is concerning us the most.
So the grocery challenge is becoming more serious and the budget will be getting reduced as I get to grips with it better. And the clothing budget is now down to things for DD and preferably in the sales (although the bad weather means we missed most of the Christmas ones this year for her next winter's wardrobe).GC 2010 €6,000/ €5,897
GC 2011:Overall Target: €6,000/ €5,442 by October
Back on the wagon again in 2014
Apr €587.82/€550 May €453.31 /€5500
