Long story short - kittie started up her third thread on this theme and it got moved to the Moneysavers Arms.

.....stands back with flak jacket on thinking "Hope to goodness that answering this question doesnt tempt anyone to start up the "fighting" again that we've had outbreaks of recently on this Board".

Anyway - end result is Kittie is upset/angry and not posting on the O.S. Board for some time/ever again.....delete as appropriate....thats not quite clear....

Thats so sad, threads like this are all about OS living and not really for the less serious Arms threads,
    Hope Kittie comes back soon.
  • With hubby not getting the job he wanted I'm doing any overtime I can, tomorrow I working 7 til 6, which will be very tiring. I've also done extra lunch duties to cover for absent staff members.
I've also managed to spend very little on food for the last couple of weeks & we're eating out of the cupboards & freezer.
I'm knitting scarves again for Christmas & have sold 2 & made £12 profit, this is what funds my Christmas. I've bought one pressie so far, a book for one of my SIL's I bought him a book for £3!

When "you" are comparing prices at the supermarket - do you check the comparison on the shelf label - easier than working prices out - I know Tesco do put price per 100gms or per litre etc. I can't say that I have taken notice if the others do it as well.

I know a lot of you have been OS for a long time however some of us have not and all the little hints and tips that are dropped into this thread and the many others on here are so valuable. Often they are for things that would never cross my mind! So please keep on sharing and supporting, I intend to pass all my new knowledge onto my daughter as she grows so your wisdom will be passed on.

Oooohhh I need your help! I am trying to remember the name of a chocolate bar that was around in the 80s - 90s. It was in a blue wrapper with a cardboard inner and the chocolate itself was in the shape of little treasure chests and filled with strawberry fondant. I have searched and searched on the internet and can't find it, please help me!

...and an inspirational thought for the day:

    www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1227283/beautician-turns-barrister-win-David-Goliath-High-Court-battle-construction-giant.html

Actually - my bets would have been placed on the beautician to win in the first place if I had had the chance to take a look at her or her photo (and not because of her looks either!!!):D - but the vast majority of people would have thought she didnt stand a chance. She herself must have had times when she wondered whether she could...

    - which is a thought for the day - that even when you think you are up against it - you can still win through - even if it looks impossible at first glance:T

    Congratulations to her.

Sorry Rummer, can't say I've ever seen a chocolate bar like that  Got a feeling that some things were only available in particular areas of the country, so may be easier to narrow down the search if you know where you were back then?
My family moved here when I was a babe in arms & then only from the county next door & I've not really been any further. Our holidays were spent with family--once in Yorkshire but mainly in Devon with my grandparents--cuz it was the only way mum & dad could afford it. My honeymoon was five days in Jersey & I've been back to Yorkshire for one more holiday & a couple of week-ends for weddings. I've taken my own brood on those newspaper breaks to Camber Sands, Weymouth & Isle of Wight & that's about it.

Anyhooz..I take your point about having someone nudge the noggin to recall all the tips we need to keep the Frugal Flame a-burning :D I guess I was--in my usual ham-fisted manner--trying to say that because I do things automatically, I wouldn't think of them as being 'tips' for someone else. Here's one though; I boiled up some frozen mixed veg for Pup to have with his dinner last night then strained off most of the water & added a goodly amount of couscous with the veg still in the pan. He had his with his bit of fish & I had the rest with grated cheese..lish! :p I boil pasta & veg together too for Pup & I to share.
