Deep breath and a cup of tea, it is impossible to think straight when your head is spinning. Have you contacted the CAB? How about a housing charity in your area?

  • Kidcat,

we've had houses to rent, and people wanting houses to rent on our local netmums site - as its aimed at families, and has local sites, might be a place to try asking?

Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.... life is a WIP.

If you're going to be homeless in 8 weeks you can go back to the council as an emergency ...hope something turns up, it usually does pet. x

A tenant we know refused to move out, even though she was two months behind with her rent. The landlords had to take her to court and it was a further three months before the landlord finally got access. Am not suggesting you try this approach but have you talked to your landlord to see whether they have any room for manoeuvre on the timescale or whether they have any other contacts for renting, or any other rentable property you might be able to move into? As a very, very long shot, it might be worth contacting Homesitters or other House Caretaking services who provide individuals to home-sit for empty properties. Usually this is just for holidays but it's possible one of these organisations might have a property somewhere in your local area where the owners are going away/abroad for a long period and don't want to leave their property empty. In such a case you would have to put your furniture into storage but I know somebody who once got a six month placement in one such properties at a very low rental simply because somebody had been given a 6 month work assignment abroad and didn't want to leave his property unoccupied.

I would sit tight as long as it didnt involve me in any more expense. It's a shame for the landlord but he will be ok - you might not be, on the streets!

Its not that simple as its going to go back to being used as employee housing, they have the employee ready to move in with his family etc, but if all else fails I am not going to leave without a fight, would rather be amicable about it and keep my options open at the present but not going to be a walk over. Have asked whether they have anything else available and they are looking into it for me,

Do you not have friends or family that you could stay with? It might be a tight squeeze but it would help them with bills etc. How many are you looking to re-home? If you have pets there are charities that will foster them out for you until you are settled in a new home or could friends take them on for you?
