  • My worst chores are mowing the lawn, washing the floor and ironing but I think I've given up ironing.
  • My worst chore? Has to be ironing - ultimate never ending job, like walking uphill through treacle. Even cleaning the cooker is better - at least you get a nice shiny cooker to look at afterwards.
SMILE....they will wonder what you are up to...........;)

Now my ironing mountain has been brought under control I am quite enjoying ironing. Once a week just under an hour sees it all done. Sense of achievement is great.
  • Morning all.

Maxjessdru, happy birthday and I have my fingers crossed for you.

Pawpurrs, I'm sorry about your news, and the same for everyone else worried about jobs.

I find being OS tiring sometimes, but then I do wonder what i did with my time before, and sometimes it actually energises me. But then again, I think I have a window of opportunity between about nine and eleven on the days I'm not working, and if I don't get active with it all then, the moment passes. Yu may have noticed of course that i seem to be on here most between nine and eleven...! I have this idea that reading about being OS is the same as being it... :o But as spring is springing I'm hoping to get more up for it. My mum posted me some salad leaves seeds - it's like she could read my mind - but what puts me off is that I'm so much better at killing plants than growing them.

We get our eggs from the greengrocer, who does his best for the hens by asking if you want "free range or tortured?"...! But my OH is suddenly all fired up about keeping hens in the back garden so we're thinking that over.

Thing have been tougher here lately as my business is being affected by the crunch - my clients have all dropped to fortnightly sessions which effectively halves my income - but luckily I managed to get a job as a sessional worker which is not well paid but guaranteed work for a few hours a week, and have been paid today for the first time, so big sigh of relief here. I feel like we've been playing catch-up since Christmas, which is weird because we'd paid for Christmas upfront.

Anyway, I should stop waffling and go and do some good old fashioned work!

Is it spring yet? I ask because all week I have been in full spring clean mode. Just prepped dining room for repainting and decluttered the kitchen. Not sure whther its because I am spending so much time in the kitchen that I have time to think about how things would be better if reorganised. But all my curtains have been wasahed and line dried in last couple of days. My poor DH is ready to go back to work to have a break:rotfl:

ironing?! what's that? oh, yes, I remember doing some years ago. We don't even own an iron any more, a little bit of time spent hanging things up well when they come out of the wash and less money to the leccy company!

  • thanks everyone for the suggestions about the eggs, believe me we have been down all those routes already, we live quite remotely in the highlands, nowhere near any supermarkets and people with their own hens are very far and few between as are farm shops, the butcher is way too expensive as are the 3 local shops. It certainly isn't cheaper here to use butchers and farm shops, believe me I have tried. We normally get them from a lovely lady in another village 12 miles away but it's not very practical to get them either unless we're passing through that way which isn't that often and she doesn't always have enough for our needs anyway.

We can't have our own hens here,we used to have them at our last house but have to give them up when we moved here as the council won't let people keep poultry in this area,we didn't have a choice as we had to move.We only do a big shop once a month and usually get some then but last month when we went MRT didn't have any good free range ones, only caged hens eggs or ones with silly price tags. I've just been unlucky I guess :o

Pawpurrs I am so sorry about your news and really do feel for you. Fingers crossed that something comes up for you both soon.

My OH had interviews Mon & Tues - both companies said they were very impressed by him - but, unfortunately, there is no job available at the moment (I can't help thinking why did they even bother to ask him for an interview then  - one involved a 5 hour drive and overnight stay). Both companies said they would seriously consider creating a new position for him (he's quite specialised) and are recommending to their board of directors that they take him on. All sounds positive - so why can't I shake off this feeling of doom & gloom  ?

Evening everyone. I just started to write a post in support of people on here so worried about jobs and then I stopped because each day there seems to be so many more, with worries and problems and sometimes I think my words must sound very inaquedate. The thing is, you have to be in it, or have been in it, to know what it 's like.
However, I re-started my post because I am sure there are lots of us on here that do know exactly what it's like, the worries, the fear etc. So for anyone going through it at the moment [ BIG HUGS] and hoping that things will improve for everyone soon.

On a lighter note and on the HOUSEWORK front -I think I've overdone the OS spring cleaning thingy because I ricked my neck and as I post, I'm sitting here, looking and feeling very sorry for myself with a 'warm in the microwave' beanbag wrapped round my neck.
To top that DH has had a terrible toothache all day and our usual Dentist the only one DH will go to, is on holiday, so DH has been sitting here next to me with a 'warm in the microwave beanbag' pressed against his face. What a pair!icon7.gif

Well done Maxjessdru..............really pleased for you and Happy Birthday!
