CB, the worst thing is that these same shops & farmhouses who charge the earth will happily let them go out the back door for half to their friends or barter them for work done. That's what happens here.0

yes you are right we used to swap our excess eggs for other things like homemade jam etc with the neighbours, but we never sold any as we only had 4 girls
just nipped out to the shop and all the organic ones had been sold so someone has been fool enough to pay the £1.75 price tag, in the meantime free range have gone up £1.45 and caged hens eggs (I will never buy) are now 99p I'm going to shut up about them now but they are my favourite comfort food and I'm annoyed0 -

would you not be able to have chickens again? at least you would know that the hens were happy hens and it would be cheaper than buying eggs at £1.75 (feel very  i don't buy eggs as i have 3 hens and i sell 1/2 dozen for £1 to friend every week....)0 -
The problem I have with some farm shops is when they first started they had good quality, cheap, local food but as they have become more popular and expanded the prices have gone up and their stock is no longer local.
I've been in some where the produce is no better (and sometimes worse) than supermarkets yet the prices are so much higher, it seems like they're just cashing in on the name "farm shop". I've found that the same is happening with the farmers markets we get around here.Dum Spiro Spero0 -
Sorry to hear your news pawpurrs.
Well, tomorrow's the day for me - had a text this afternoon to say we will definitely find out tomorrow about whether we still have a job. And its my birthday tomorrow! Anyway, nothing to do but sit and wait really.
On the plus side, been quite OS this week. Managed to chop down all my raspberry canes at the weekend and dug over two of my raised veggie beds and dug in some leaf mould. Also mum gave me some money for my birthday (requested) so I bought a load of plug plants and seeds from Wilko. Managed to transplant them today so 72 baby plants now sitting in the conservatory.
Did my first "customisation" at the weekend. Had an old skirt from M&S that was really nice but a bit long and dowdy. It was a really good tweed fabric though so I chopped it off just above knee level and frayed the edge - looks great and no-one else has one!
Also got busy this morning making goodies to take to work tomorrow - sooooo much cheaper than buying them. Made twinks hobnobs, chocolate crispy cakes and banana & honey tealoaf.
Anway, that it until tomorrow - can't post at work but will let you know tomorrow how I got on.
(((((hugs)))))) to everyone0 -
Thanks for all the well wishes, nothing on the horizon at the moment, but sure something will turn up. Off to have a pancake! :jPawpurrs x0
