Hi there! I've had to delete several posts discussing medical advice. If you want to use the contraceptive pill to eliminate periods, please see your doctor first.

I would imagine that anything you own, whether you received it for free or not, is classed as a possession and OK to sell (though you might consider there are moral issues with this). I'd suggest if you have a specific question about what might or might not be OK, you should ask on the Ebay board - they'll know much more than I do
it was a bit of a 'what if' question because I'm aware of someone receiving items on prescription, free as they are on benefits, and selling them on Ebay and wondered about the rights and wrongs of it,

That's the sort of thing I meant by a moral issue - I don't know what the legalities of something like that would be, but I agree with you, I don't think it's morally right.
The thing is, at the same time you could argue that if somebody is on full benefits, then everything they own is received "free", and therefore it's wrong to make a profit from it. But I don't personally consider there to be any greater moral problem with somebody on full benefits maximising what they already have by selling their old clothes/household items on ebay, than somebody who was on no benefits at all.Operation Get in Shape

thanks for that

It's certainly morally questionable to say the least. I've seen stuff on ebay which I'm sure has either been given on prescription or is off the back of a lorry and it makes me
Penny Pincher, Is the Clinique stuff much cheaper on Ebay? I have found one seller who sells loads of it. How does she come by so much of it so cheaply? I am very worried about buying something which is not legit.
We are managing here by doing all the things we have always done and by learning more all the time from MSE.
I'm sure that meal planning is our biggest saver followed closely by switching off everything that is not in use.0 -

Of course not but if someone is on benefits, although their prescriptions are free to them, they are paid for by the tax payer and are given to them in good faith by a GP who feels that they need them so surely that has to be wrong.
Interesting point Glad and somthing I have had a bee in my bonnet about for a while.
Sorry to go off topic Pink and Penny.0 -
No I agree Haribo - what I was saying was I don't consider selling prescribed goods to be OK, but I can't see that selling "ordinary" used goods becomes an issue just cos somebody's receiving benefits.

Evening all
On the meal planning front I have worked out that I have enough main meals and veg in the freezer, cupboards etc for more than 35 days and thats just off the top of my head :T ....
This weekend I have made quite a bit of stuff- 3 chicken, leek + sweetcorn pies, -leftover roast chicken
- 2 beef, onion + mushroom pies, leftover from steak puddings
- and have minted lamb, potato + onion in the fridge to make 2-3 pies tomorrow -from roast lamb at lunch time ....
.... We will probably only average 1 pastry meal a week -but it makes meat go much further :T
So im hoping that this month will be no more expensive than a standard month ..even allowing for any xmas "extras" :jIn fact Im going to try and spend as little as possible..still aiming to carry on saving as much as I can from the housekeeping "just in case"....
We had about 7" of snow yesterday ..and its trying to sprinkle again :j its lovely sat indoors knowing that we have plenty of food stashed, blankies and emergancy supplies ...so the weather can throw what it wants at us,

An article in todays papers of interest - re households are likely to suffer regular blackouts within 3 years:
www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1088778/Regular-blackouts-hit-Britain-years-shortage-new-power-stations-study-claims.html
Only amusing thought to that - being the Daily Mail's dicey terminology yet again - apparently only "families" will suffer this - so I'm okay then according to them???!!
