    snipped...

    * My neice who is 9 (bless her), has shoulder length hair and it gets tangled up and knotted up a lot. Does anyone know of any shampoo/conditioner/hair brushes/implements that might help the poor flower out? I did do her a really funky bob cut with lots of layers and a fringe (a bit like Miss Nelly Furtado) last time, but she cried her eyes out cos she said all her friends would look at her, so can't do it again. LOL.
DD has thick wavy hair too, it can be a nightmare until they learn to manage it by themselves. First thing could be a visit to the hairdressers for a trim and some layers at the ends.

Find a good conditioner to use each time she washes her hair, detangle and brush hair before you wash and comb conditioner through to the ends. Only comb wet hair using a wide toothed comb, never brush it or it will stretch and break the hair, making it more prone to tangling.
To detangle it, work from the ends, brushing or combing the bottom couple of inches and work upwards, don't start at the scalp or you'll pull the tangles down onto each other and end up with a bird's nest.

Blow dry it straight, wait until the hair is nearly dry to do this and work in sections using clips, it makes it easier to do and stops hair blowing around and getting tangled. Point the hairdryer downwards all the time, it makes hair shiny and stops it tangling. DD uses a Denman brush like this one

She ties her hair back or plaits it for school or if the weather is windy, she has a huge collection of clips, bobbles and scrunchies. Straighteners help a lot too, poker straight shiny hair doesn't tangle as much, maybe your neices mum could straighten her hair until she's older, it doesn't need to be done every day.
Lastly, tell your neice how lucky she is to have fab, long hair. It won't be a problem for her once she learns to manage it herself.

The best conditioners DD has used have been the Aussie one for long thick hair and the Botanics 3 minute hair mask which is often on BOGOF and with extra ACM points.

Believe it or not, there's actually a forum for people with long hair www.longhaircareforum.com

OK? You think they look OK? They look wonderful!!!:T :T :T You are sooooo clever to be able to make things look so nice, and it just goes to show - it's not the money that you spend, but the time and trouble that you take for someone's gift, that shows how much you really care.
