hi guys and girls
well times must, and i have been thinking recently, to get my self a second job. something to get some extra cash, get my self out of over draft and pay off loans. and able to pay bills, and my gf's bills as thats how its turnign out atm without worrying at night about the money.
i have a 5 day a week job, which isnt bad money tbh but still need somat extra. so ive been thinking.
bar work/ pub- easy to get job with no qualification, sort of pay and do they tend to do couple nights a week or weekend?
doorman- believe couple hundred for test, course and license. few guys at the gym do this so may have a chat, tho my mrs is against me doing this so prob on the back burner.
take away delivery- again as pub work. take it use your own car.
also how doe shavign a second job effect tax etc.

Hi,
I would personally go for local pub. I mean, the pay will be minimum wage, but it is not too hard work (you will find that in club it is very hard work and you will be knackered), you meet lots of people and usually it is very friendly atmosphere.
Also you find that staff they have on during the week like to go out at the weekend so most pubs are constantly looking for some weekend night staff.
This is from my personal experience.
Don't know anything about doormans though...
Tax - you will pay straight 20% tax on your earnings. You don't need to let your current job know about this job, but you MUST let your new job know about your current job to make sure you pay enough tax.0 -
I agree with Any
Bar work is a good bet, it's easy enough and you'll get decent amount of cash.
Obviously door work is better paid butter you need to do all the courses and stuff first which will have to be paid for by yourself.
In terms of take away delivery, I used to work for Domino's and it just didn't work out good enough to do it, I had to use my on car and got paid an hourly rate plus a set amount (80p - may be more now) per delivery.
After I'd worked out what it cost in petrol, insurance (you have to have business cover) and general wear and tear it wasn't very attractive!
After that though I went to work evenings for Tesco.com delivering shopping that people had ordered on line, again paid by the hour but without having to provide your own transport. It was fairly easy and the money was decent. I used to do 3 nights a week (6:30 onwards) and would finish anytime between 8pm and 11pm depending on how busy it was. This used to bring in an extra couple of hundred quid a month after tax, plus they had holiday pay and there was usually the option to work more if I needed extra cash.

Try working as a waiter - min wage but the chance of tips!
I used to work for pizza hut while doing my A-Levels (about 7 years ago) and I made about £40 - £50 in tips alone for working about 16 hours a week.0 -
i agree bar work is a good idea you are socialising and the closer to home the cheaper the travel and no risk of drink driving good luck,0

I am a Door Supervisor; don't do it!!
And now the license is £270, as well as the cost of the course. I gave up door work but I do events security; I'd recommend event/football stewarding as a sideline though.
PM me if you want to know more; I can recommend/scare you away from companies etc.0 -
I work full time in week, but i do 12-5 on sun in a local pub/restaurant, i get about £120 a month for this..even better if cash in hand..but do be careful with that one..!TO FINISH LAST, FIRST YOU HAVE TO FINISH....0

I too have just started considering doing something extra to boost my income - particularly with Christmas so near - and I found a website that just specialises in part time jobs - www.myparttimejob.co.uk - and there are loads of jobs I never thought of - mystery shopping, merchandiser, weekend sales assistant, market research interviewers... Not sure if there's something of interest there...0

mystery shopping is great fun ..especially if you have a bit of the actress in you...its like playing a role, which the firms actually give you a script to speak from! i can do 10 mins in a shop and get 10 quid or sometimes a bank..try itTO FINISH LAST, FIRST YOU HAVE TO FINISH....0

possette, how many assignments do you get a month on average and what type of things do you have to do, sounds fun, but it must be worthwhile on the pocket.0
