Yes, but as a registered company here in the UK they must have a company secretary and at least one other director. As Wal Mart call the shots the finance director may be the most powerful board member.
That said ASDA still seems to haver a lot of autonomy.
It might have been an idea to have taken a photo of the flowers - it is worth "a thousand words".0 -
When I opened a trust fund for my baby, I opted for the company 'The Childrens Mutual' as they are offering a £20 Mothercare voucher if you open an account and set-up a monthly direct debit for as little as £10 per month. It must have been a couple of weeks after opening the account, I got a reply from the customer service manager acknowledging my application and congratulating me on choosing the right company and went on to remind me that I or a family or a friend would get £20 Mothercare voucher if I or they regularly contribute to the trust fund via direct debit. I was aghast as I have already set-up the account and in fact The Childrens Mutual have already started taking money out of my account. I wrote back to the person named on the letter to express my discontent but got no reply. So I emailed my complaints directly to the top man and voila! I got a reply in the post immediately with a £30 Mothercare voucher enclosed. And wait.....
One week later, I received a letter from the person I wrote back first and got a further £20 Mothercare voucher!!! Weheyy!!!
Another case: My partner bought a Vax hoover from Argos because he thought it the best product of all that Argos offered at that time. Little did we know that if the product becomes faulty and still under warranty, you can not return it to Argos but return it directly to the manufacturer. A month into using the hoover, it stopped functioning. So begun the ping-pong of calls between myself and the manufacturer. They arranged a collection with a promise that the hoover would be returned usually within 14 days. We waited and waited till six weeks later, I got so fed up with a dirty carpet, I emailed the Company Director and told him exactly what I felt in a civilised manner. Result? The director sent a BRAND NEW hoover! No apology for the inconvenience caused but not bothered by it. I was happy to get the hoover...brand new one at that!0 -
Hi Elf,
Welcome to MSE.
Your posting gave me a bit of a twinge about the use of trademarks but it looks like you are in the right and the thought police will not have a leg to stand on:D
".....for example ‘hoover’ is now a generic term for a vacuum cleaner. (section 46 (1)(c))".

Interestingly VAX now owns Hoover anyway:
Buyout concerns shift to fate of Hoover plant
Friday, December 8, 2006
Hong Kong-based Techtronic Industries announced Thursday that it bought the Hoover floor-care business for $107 million from Whirlpool Corp.

wether relevant or not i dont know but a complaint to the council about the disgrace of a garden they let our house with.
i have the full complaint letter somewhere if it will help.
basically it is obvious inside the house that some years ago the downstairs bathroom was knocked out as were what we believe to be larders [set out just like my mum and dads and also my nans old place on the same estate] and they extended the upstairs toilet knocking out another wall to accomodate the bath.
this is my theory for the rubble strewn outside the immediate area in the back when you open the door. bricks and rubble everywhere.
not safe.
council let this property to us in this condition. ok they dont normally sort out gardens as these are the tennants responsibility and gow knows how the previous tenant ignored it but we wouldnt.
the OH called some government body and found out about the tenant and landlord act which we quoted to the council and our local MP. we also told them that should one of our kids break a limb out there that we would sue them for every penny.
its got us works to be carried out with diggers to remove the offending items but they are so slow as getting round to it.There's someone in my head, but it's not me0 -
another is EDF energy.
we were with london electricity and british gas before, this proerty came with pre-payment meters for EDF for both [dual fuel]
electric was no problems, it had an £11 debt which we paid and EDF sent us a new key with an £11 credit.
the gas meter was some different altogether.
whenever we 'topped up' it would take £7 from the credit we were putting on. having not had a prepayment gas meter before i assumed that it took for the 'emergency' credit first time you charged. when it did it again [and we never access emergency credit] i called EDF and they sent me a cheque for £14. with a promise of it never happening again, they didnt know the problem, wouldnt send anyone out as their records were not showing any type of problem and it was working.
so the times comes again to top up as running low and lo and behold it nabs £6 off my credit.
so i called again and got passed from pillar to post, got ever story under the sun about what it was or wasnt. all lies but told NO REFUD as we had already had £14 out of them
so i sent them thisI am writing with reference to the above account for gas at my property [*******************]. you will note from my records that since moving to this proerty on 14 july 2008, i have had problems with the gas meter taking money it shouldnt when i have put money on the prepayment card. you will also note that you previously refunded £14 because of this problem.
I was sent what you call a 'dump card' and i understand from a conversation with someone on your helpline today that the card read there were no problems or debt on the meter. so i must have therefore used emergency gas. i can assure you i have not used any of the emergency credit and that you still need to refund me £6.00 which was taken when i topped the meter up on 31 july 2008.
The operative i spoke with today has refused to refund me this money. This simply is not good enough. i have never used the emergency credit. I do not know what the problem with the meter is but i have 'lost' £6.00 during the 31 july 2008 top up.
If i do not receive a satisfactory response regarding this and an immediate refund i will have no option than to take the matter further.
short but to the point.
within 2 days i had a reply and a cheque sent within a week with the refund and funny enough my gas meter has behaved itself ever since!!
i suspect that whilst the property was empty it was taking the 'daily standing charge' plus the prev tenants debt and as it was empty for over 3 months when it was 'charged' it started taking set amounts. not my problem. new tenant. would have been nice for someone to admit this theory though. There's someone in my head, but it's not me0 -
Can anyone advise me how to complain to the Council - in particular the housing benefit department!
its difficult. well not really but depends.....
you need to figure out who your complaint is for....
1. if you dont agree with your benefit award then you need to write for a 'recondiseration' to the HB people themselves. dont expect a speedy reply, especially in this climate. we work as hard as we can to deal with everything that comes in BUT if your LA is anything like the one i work for new claims are the utmost and post and letters etc are put on the backburnder. which IMHO doesnt make good customer service but hey i only push a pen and type letter.
2. when you get a reply, if you are 'knocked back' then you will be given appeal rights. again dont expect an immedate response.
3. you can enquire about the council complaints procedures and be given the correct channles to go through, however i dont know how long a response via this channel will take. There's someone in my head, but it's not me0 -

True - although no longer a requirement to have a company secretary.
Suspect Asda will have a full board in the UK.0 -
Hi,
I went through the whole thread....and its really interesting.....
Actually my complaint was regarding a review site.......it may sound "funny" compared to all other complaints I have seen earlier on this thread.....
So My hubby registered for a review site when there was a promotion of £10 voucher for writing 15 reviews....
He put in all his efforts and finished it in stipulated time.....and emailed them to send amazon voucher.......
To our surprise, they just deleted the account saying they are copied .....but genuinely they were NOT.
When he replied asking to give proof of what they are saying they never ever replied to any mail afterwords.........
Really gutted after spending so much of his precious time.....nothing in hand.........
Any ideas to where I can complain about this....???
On the "contact us" page of the site there is only email address....to which they are not responding.....
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated......

The WHOIS record of a domain often holds useful contact information. Lots of ways of reading this, but http://www.dnsstuff.com/ was the first to spring to mind. Scroll down and put the site domain name (without any https://www.) in the whois lookup box.0

They are owned by wal mart
try [EMAIL="Hannah.Stead@asda.co.uk"]Hannah.Stead@asda.co.uk[/EMAIL] or put your complaint on http://www.complaintcommunity.com/quickcomplaint.php (ASDA are on there aswell)0
