nokia 3230 sound - quick fix for low volume
Options
many if not all nokia 3230s have a VERY low ringtone on them. it doesnt matter if you change the tone, the volume, the settings, nothing helps. i took mine to the nokia service centre today who upgraded the firmware but told me the speaker problem is common to all 3230s, basically the speaker cover cuts out the sound. so i returned home slightly annoyed to put it mildly, and seeing as the bloke had buggered up the catch a bit i decided to have a go myself. no doubt someone will tell me this was a bad thing to do but it has solved my problem totally and i now have loud ringtones.
1 on the back of the phone above the camera lens, you will need a thin sharp (but not brittle) instrument to lever the top part of the cover open. put implement in the gap just above the camera lens and lift up slighly, the catch will pop and you can pull the top cover off.
2 with tweezers remove the tiny mesh covering off the speaker, pop the plastic cover back on and problem solved.
obv i will be keeping the nokia in a skin case now as i dont want dust to get into the unprotected speaker.
i will also be posting this in another forum elsewhere as pumpa, in case you think i just copied and pasted this!
now for my question-when using pc suite how do you transfer music to the phone when no memory card present? i transferred an mp3 and it went on fine (pc suite confirmed this and my memory went down too) but no music is in the phone anywhere i can find. any ideas? cheers. oh and where to buy cheapest rs mmc card?

not sure about cheapest but these are reliable for mem cards

think i read something about a speaker swap for these with another models speaker which improved volume.
always do my transfers with card reader straight to mem card - much quicker and safer0 -
the volumes fine when the top covers off, its when you reattach the fascia that it muffles hence i removed the mesh which was muffling the sound. the speaker itself seems tiny as well?. do you know what the easiest way of selecting portions of an mp3 and saving them as mp3 is? (ie i want just the intro to a song as a ringtone but if you try to do this in itunes it somehow saves it as an mp4 which isnt compatible with a 3230 so it seems?) cheers. i havent enough memory to warrant transferring the whole song u see.Fr.
