tuesday 18/11/08 Wht small dfw things have you done today???

:D When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.:D

Today I will:
  • check online banking
  • make a loaf in breadmaker
  • swim and jacuzzi to use gym membership
  • storecupboard meals
  • try nd be sparkly
Good morning everyone, feeling a bit down this morning a friend on the £4000 thread has lost her husband to cancer in the early hours. and I am still feeling very raw about losing my brother. cancer is such a cruel disease:mad:

Make sure you appreciate the people tht you love in your life, you never know when they can be taken away from you.
Better go and put some sparkly socks on to try and cheer myself up bit:o :o
Reduce,re-use, recycle.

    morning,

    Big hugs to you Sophiesmum.

Well, after my busy shift last night I get to my bed, read a bit of my book, got to sleep only to have nightmares on and off all night... nothing related to the shift or anything. I think my brain was just too active, my head was buzzing.

    onto my list

    today I have/will

    - check onlike banking, should be no change... still skint
    - check mobile spend
    - update my MSE diary
    - store cupboard (and healthy) meals
    - the washing I wasn't up to putting on last night
    - ditto dishwasher over night
    - call gym to cancel the class I booked in for (see diary for explanation) saves me a £2 cancellation fee if I do it with more than 2 hours to spare. I am still going to use my membership though, just in a different way
    - go to orchestra (saving electricity in the house)
    - get an early night with my library book and a cup of horlicks
    - scare away the nightmare bringing monsters so I'm not so tired I start craving junk food again....

    Big hugs to everyone.

  • I opened and checked my bank statement today (a victory in itself - I didn't even open them for almost a year!) and discovered I'm still constantly spending more than I get - £15-£40 over every week!

Today, I'll pay my phone bill and rent (yay!) other than that I'll be spending nothing.
I'll be trying to discover where the hell all my money *still* goes and how I can stop it going there! (I'm thinking one day a week when I get to spend £5 or £10 on whatever - I just can't cope with not spending indefinitely!)
Trying to start some drawings, maybe get some portfolio ideas together so I can make a start with it on my BF's computer.
Find more jobs to apply for!
  • Hi, Hope everyone's day get more cheery

    My little things today:
    *Ate Breakfast at home.
*Free Tea from machine at work.
*Am getting £20 voucher for use in 2009 for organising Team Xmas Lunch.
*Using buy one get one free vouchers at Cafe Rouge.
*Have sent myself email to my home about Daily Clicks.
*Will write at least 10 reviews on Qype.
*Will validate all the vouchers websites I registered with yesterday.

Bit of a pricey day what with eating out, but I'd already arranged this (and a night tmw!) whilst my head was still buried in the sand.

Ooo and forgot have interview with agency about getting a job that pays more :)

  • SM big hugs

    Today
    DOne NOTHING
DS left packed lunch on table, darling mother (me) rushed down in the car, caught the bus by parking precariously (?sp) turned of engine and dashed across road to give boy sandwiches

Car then wouldn't start - arghghghghgh - picture the scene, unwashed face, slipper crock things on (very slippy on wet flagstones it would seem) no coat no phone dd at home eating brekkie. (had only just brushed my teeth) had to dash home, rung aa - put on shoes, coat pick up phone, get bike out of garage (shouted at DD - poor thing - will say sorry later) - down road to wait for nice if amused man who sorted my car out - AA told me he would arrive at 9.20 (I!!!!!!!!!! phoned at 8.05 - not great for a damsel in distress)

Man turned up at 8.25 (orcadians are wonderful!!) he said it be sorted in a jiffy and it was, didnt sign anything as he told me to 'gae hame and get a heat lass' (go home and warm up!)

List later when I feel less arghghghggh and more ahem - got to work on time?!? How no idea.

    Poor DD.
Will DS even thank me - I think not!
Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
