Good luck with this you sound very determined. Please keep as updated on how your getting on. Have you sold your stuff yet on ebay? Did it go for what you had hoped?

I haven't put my items on Ebay yet - I was thinking of putting them on Sunday for a week. That gives me the time over the weekend to get the pictures and descriptions all sorted to give myself the best chance of getting the maximum price for them. Can also go through other stuff to selll as I'm going to need to list as many items as I can in the 1st week of January so that the money will be in my account in time.

A Happy New Year to everyone!!0 -
Happy New Year everyone!!
I have spent all day listing stuff on Ebay so hopefully it will all sell well and I can pay off my first target debt on time.
My boyfriend has given me some more stuff that he said I could sell and put towards my debt which I reckon should get about another £100 on Ebay so that's good news.
I also think that I have miscalculated the amount that I've got to pay back on this loan too. I think it is more like £700 instead of £800. I'm going to ring them up on Tuesday to get a more accurate figure. Hopefully I am right and there is only £700 to pay!!
Thanks again for all the support and encouragement.

Just wanted to wish you the best of luck
Another idea is as well as money making on ebay have you thought about amazon - check out the thread on ebay and other auctions on here it's full of great tips - it's a good place for more unusual books especially as you only pay fees when things sell. My parents gave me some books they didn't want when I saw them over Christmas so I could list them on amazon - things like self help, diet and cookery books seem to be going well at the moment - have you any family/friends you could ask for books they really don't use along these lines you could list?
Do you do paidtoclick, survey etc sites at the moment - don't know how much I'm allowed to post about these on here but I've made about £500 in about 15 months through doing things like this - some is cash which can obviously go straight into paying off the debts the rest is vouchers which can either be used to buy things for yourself you want or gifts etc and put the money you've saved on them into savings. I know pigsback is mentioned on the freebies section of this site - I do 19 different sites at the moment - keep track of them all in a spreadsheet and I find are great as there's no pressure to do anything if you're too busy/not well but if you've got some free time and are at the computer spending a little while doing them can be a big help I find. :money:
Really hope you get your target this month. If you want anymore information on anything I've posted just ask.Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000
Initial Mortgage free date - January 2058
Mortgage as of 1st February 2024 - £159,134.98
Overpayments to date - £79.62
Current Mortgage free date - January 20580 -
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL... AND THE BEST OF LUCK WITH YOUR DEBT CLEARING, HOPE I TOO CAN MANAGE TO HAVE A FOCUSED YEAR AND GET MY LIFE SORTED OUT.
I HAVE ABOUT 50K IN DEBTS REALLY HOPING THIS YEAR WILL BE A BETTER ONE. Unfortunately I cannot work to much as I am a carer for my sick husband, he is terminally ill, but lets see if something turns up.0 -
Hello everyone.
I have found out that I actually owe £712.71 on this own instead of over £800 which is great news. Along with the £130 I've already got saved, my Ebay items are already going for £170!! This leaves me with just over £400 to find and my auctions have still got 4 days to go.
I'm going to look around tonight and maybe add a few more items to Ebay tomorrow but they will have to go on as short auctions as I really need the money in my account by the 17th so it gives enough time for the payment to get to HFC.

Well done ehallett, I think you are going to do it. You sound so determined. Do try Amazon as well. I found out about it on here, and posted 5 items last night, 2 have sold already. I am amazed. Definitely good for books.
Anyway good luck and here's to a great 2006.0 -
Thanks Peppa Pig - I have just listed some bits on pieces on Amazon and if they all sell than I will get another £50!!
My Ebay stuff has gone up by another £15 too.
Every little helps!!0 -
Do remember that you will have ebay fees and possibly paypal fees as well to pay on completion
Don't want you to be caught short0 -
My auctions finish today. The total at the moment stands at £265 and there is still 11 hours to go so I am hoping to get between £300 and £400 for the lot.
I have also sold a few items on Amazon but the money won't get to my account until after this debt is due to be paid so I will have to but this money towards my next target debt.
I also received some good news yesterday - for ages I have been trying to get the higher rate mobility for Disability Living Allowance and they have finally agreed to it!! Best of all, they are backdating it to September last year so tomorrow there is a massive £634 going into my account!! This means that I can pay HFC with the money that I already had put by and this. I won't even need to touch the Ebay money (although I will need to put some of this into my account to cover a few bills).
So I have done it and will hopefully be making the payment to them tomorrow a week ahead of schedule. I will post later on when my auctions have finished and I will let you all know what my next target debt is for February.
Keep going everyone - it can be done!! :j0
