ok those are the spec's i want, not really bothered if i comes with freesat or anything similar.
Basically, i want to get a big great quality screen, as good as i can get for the money. could possibly push it to £500 but i'd rather not given the state of the economy.
Does anyone know any great deals out there?
Also, should i wait for the January sales instead? anyone have any idea if tv's will come down in price much by then, as i dont mind waiting.
Thanks very much for your help!

For that price you have better chance of getting a Plasma with decent spec or settle for a LCD with low spec.
Start with Currys - in regard to price dont expect too much of a drop, what the TV companies are doing now is releasing say series 1, then after 6 months withdrawing it and releasing series 2 etc etc, this ensures that the customer always pays a premium for a premium TV.0 -
Does it need any scart or component sockets? How many hdmis? Will you be watching freeview?:idea:0

But £400 for a 40" Plasma is still a very small budget, even £500 is. LG do a 32" Plasma and even that is £463 at AmazonIt's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
Richer sounds have 42" Samsung plasmas for 500 quid:idea:0

Acoustic Solutions / Argos £449 (can get for less) 1080p

No idea of the quality of them in person but from reviews I doubt they'd compare to a Sony / Panny, but they're in budget. The phillips one would probably be the better of them, but thats their budget range TV. I was looking at these TVs when I was after a decent 40"+, but decided on the sony 40v4000u for £599 / 5 year warranty. Fantastic set, even with SD feeds.0 -
The cheap philips tvs tend to be awful for 'movement' onscreen
Polaroid are NOT good for tvs and I highly doubt Acoustic Solutions are either.:idea:0 -
I would recommend second hand with that budget for a decent set. Check out the classifieds on AVforums.com
You might be able to pick up a cheap second hand commercial screen panasonic PHD7/8 etc for that money which will give a better picture than most TV's up to £1k.0 -
2nd hand often means little or no warranty, and if spending the best part of £500, I'd want a decent warranty to back it up.0
