Just a quick question regarding setting up a business as an undischarged bankrupt - I am an IT consultant, would I be able to set up as a sole trader called something like T0mm's Computer Consultancy?
Just my job may well be under threat and I am considering alternatives such as self employment, and I'm not 100% sure what the rules are...
Cheers for all your help so far

Got a letter the other day saying that my bankrupcy was now being transferred to RTLU...
Does that mean that they have finished investigating my affairs? I have not heard about a BRO/BRU yet, does this letter mean that is now less likely?
Or is that maybe just wishful thinking?Made Bankrupt (debt free!) 26th January 2009 - 2:17pm

Means the OR has finished investigations....RTLU deal with "asset management" IPA's etc etc might be less likely BUT no guarantee....no news is good newsWe all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0

Thanks

Unfortunately, i'm already stuck with an IPA - so no getting out of that one. I honestly thought when I saw the letter come through from the Insolvency Service that it would be a letter informing me of an upcoming BRO...
Phew!

Well, a year has gone by - and thank you to all the help that i've received from other MSE users - I am now discharged from my bankruptcy as of today! :j:D:beer:
I still have a couple more questions to ask now though. I am *still* getting letters through from one of my former creditors (RBS) suggesting that I get in touch with them to repay the loans. How can I stop this from happening? I've already called them (several times) and they don't seem to be getting the message!
I would guess now that my bankruptcy has ended and i've not heard from the OR, any chance of them giving me a BRO/BRU have disappeared now?
Also, as far as my ongoing IPA is concerned, do I still need to inform the OR of any changes to my financial circumstances (i.e. if I were to get a pay rise would I have to pay more towards an IPA)?
Thanks again for everyone's help - it's been much appreciated - and I can now move forward with a debt free future!Made Bankrupt (debt free!) 26th January 2009 - 2:17pm

Congratulations on your discharge. I would think the bin and RBS letters will become good friends. The bad news is that you are still legally obliged to inform OR of any change in your finances ( up or down) till the end of your IPA term.
Good luck with your debt free future
