I have my appeal meeting, with my line manager's boss on wednesday.

I'm not sure what it will lead to, I just hope it prevents anyone else being treated like this!

What is the basis of your appeal?
    Don’t be a can’t, be a can.
  • I think personally there are things that have been done wrong-particulary the notice they gave you, it's unacceptable!!

    Good luck with everything xx

I've had similar. A verbal 'it's likely you won;t pass your probation' and then dismissal the next day. I was furious as they poached me from another job in the same company where I was doing fine (and therefore knew me and my work!) but there was nothing I could do.

However, in recognition of the fact they treated me shoddily they paid me about 5k 'redundancy' as long as I signed a compromise agreement, which I did.

I'm afraid they can do this kind of thing perfectly legally. Even without warning you they have issues with you/.

Appeal meeting is today at 12!

The appeal is based on firstly being dismissed without any sort of warning, Secondly the dismissal meeting was not held to procedure and lastly because I felt unsupported in my role.

I hope that by appealing it will stop them from treating other people lie this and also I was under paid on my final wage so I hope to get that sorted too.

Good luck with the appeal. The employer does appear to have acted very shoddily, I hope it reaches a satisfactory conclusion for you

im afraid i beleive this is becoming more typical due to the present economic climate, this has happened to a friend of mine. Her company is so out of proceedure its unreal, but shes only been employed for 8 months.

They are truly making her life difficult as she is fighting it with union help, otherwise she would have been out. Can i ask that even though they appear to be able to sack you without reason under 12 months employ arent we supposed to have basic employment rights?
