Over Christmas I got fed up with tea, coffee etc, and started fancying something... well, even simpler, but just as warming. So I cut a thin slice of lemon, squeezed the juice in a mug but left the slice in it, and poured hot water in.
Can't get simpler than that. I added a sweetener and had a wonderfully thirst-quenching hot drink. Been doing this every evening since, and I want to make a habit of it. It's cleansing, healthy and cheap.
Anyone has more cheap 'n healthy drinks to suggest? Hot or cold, whichever.

Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.

I do the same with the lemon every morning at breakfast, but without the sweetner! Been doing that for months! And yes - my skin is much better!!
For the kids, I use a drop of orange juice with hot water (allowed to cool for the younger ones). I do this with either the fresh juice or flavoured squash. Warming drink for them.0 -
I rarely fancy a hot drink, because if I'm thirsty I can't wait for it to get cool enough to drink, and if I'm not, well it's pretty pointless.
Two cups of tea in the morning to get me started, but I snooze through the too hot stage of them. The rest of the day I'm quite happy with lemonade, tap water, or cider (depending on time of day!)
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

Oh, I have baby skin already! (now where's the icon with the long nose..?)_
I often have green tea, but it took me a while to get used to it. It has strong antioxidant properties.
I have also tried nettle tea, which is ok if you really put your mind to be healthy, but it tastes like, well, dried grass - ie. hay!!!
Methinks I'll stick with my lemon water.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -

I understand that hot water and a slice of lemon first thing when you get up is good detox cleanser for your liver.0

I LOVE water with lemon. Cold in summer with loads of ice and hot in winter when I can't face a brew but want something warm.
I also get tummy cramps if I have a cold drink in the morning so if I wake thirsty (after a night on the voddie) I have a hot water then too.
I discovered one lemonless morning that a slice of satsuma tastes ok too..... so I suppose orange would be a variation too.
....and it helps if you're a little......... bunged up! :whistle:Just run, run and keep on running!0
