calling abroad from italy

hello all,

i am going to italy for 7 days and wondered which is the best way to call from there to both the UK and india?

which UK network is the cheapest to use whilst abroad?

which italian payg sim would be the cheapest?

does anyone know of any calling cards from there?


...and any other suggestions would be most helpful?

If you have Vodafone, look into their Passport option - calls at your normal tariff, plus a 75p connect charge. Other UK network charges are fairly similar to each other, but if on contract, check out the various int'l options - about £3 a month gets cheaper roaming, but still 58 to 75p/min to make calls.

I'd go for Wind - if you will make quite a few calls, the NoiItaly €9 for 180 minutes option looks very interesting - to landlines and Wind mobiles.

Calling cards - there are probably loads there. If you want to look into international ones, I'd think of Enjoyprepaid or Bizon, both Nobelcom products. Some freephone calls are blocked from networks in some countries, but I hope that the ordinary area code numbers would work.
