Sending items to Paypal Unconfirmed address?

Say im selling an item and a buyer uses paypal to pay for it, but supplies an 'Unconfirmed' address (according to paypal records), for me to send the item to.
Fact: If i send the item to this address, then I am not protected under the paypal 'Seller Protection Policy'.
Does anyone know if there is a way or some kind of setting that I can select so that any buyer wanting to pay by Paypal has to send me a confirmed address?
I ask because i was bitten recently where the buyer gave me an unconfirmed address that i sent the item to. The buyer then claimed they never made the transaction and because I sent it to an unconfirmed adress, paypal took the money back, despite me having proof of postage! Same thing happened to a friend of mine too.

I had this problem with Paypal where I could not understand why my address was 'not confirmed'. I had used eBay for a while on and off and had a feedback of 13, (no negatives) but wanted my address to be confirmed to stop any problems occurring. I contacted Paypal who sent me instructions and now my address is 'confirmed'. Below is the email I received from them which gives simple steps on what to do; (I know this is not exactly what you asked for but you could give this to the buyer and get them to follow the instructions). I hope this helps you with your query

Thanks for contacting PayPal. I appreciate the opportunity to assist you
with your questions.
I understand that you are having trouble with the confirmation of your
location and I do apologise for the inconvenience that has caused you.
With regard to your query, would you mind to please check the address
registered on your eBay. Please link the address on your eBay account
into your PayPal account. From my end here the cards that you registered
on your account is confirmed already. I have provided you information
regarding the matter. Please refer to the information below. For further
queries, please contact the customer service hotline of PayPal.
You can add your PayPal postal addresses to your eBay postal address
page.
First of all, please make sure your eBay User ID is registered on your
PayPal Account. You can do this by logging into your PayPal Account then
going to your Profile. Click on 'Auctions' and you will be able to view
any eBay ID's you have registered with PayPal. If you do not see your
eBay ID, you may register it by clicking on 'Add' and entering your
information.
To make your PayPal postal addresses available from your eBay postal
address page, simply follow these steps:
1. Log in to your eBay account.
2. Go to 'My eBay'.
3. Under the 'My Account' section click on 'Addresses'.
4. Click 'View all postal addresses'.
5. If you see a button to 'Add PayPal Addresses', your address book
is not linked. Click this button to link your address book to your
PayPal account.
6. Log in to your PayPal account when prompted and click 'Continue'.
7. Once the accounts are linked, you will be able to select your
PayPal registered credit card billing address as your postal address.
8. You may also choose to click the 'Make primary' link beside the
address to ensure that it will be selected automatically each time you
checkout on eBay, unless you specify a different address.
To change addresses from the eBay Payment Flow:
1. After buying an item on eBay, click the 'Pay Now' button.
2. On the 'Review Your Purchase' page, click on the 'Change Postal
Address' link in the 'Review Postal Address' section
3. Click the 'Add PayPal Address' button if available.
4. Once the accounts are linked, you will be able to select your
PayPal registered credit card billing address as your postal address.
5. You may also choose to click the 'Make primary' link beside the
address to ensure that it will be selected automatically each time you
checkout on eBay, unless you specify a different address.
You can only link one PayPal account to your eBay account's postal
addresses page. However, if you have more than one eBay account, you can
link the same PayPal account to each of your eBay accounts.
If you delete a PayPal address from within your eBay address book the
address will be permanently deleted on eBay and PayPal.

thats why i'll NEVER use it for higher value items (anything more than around £30 or so)
as for the unconfirmed thing, you get an email when they pay that tells you if confirmed or not, simply refuse the payment on that basis, and make sure to add some text to that effect in your auction (i.e. paypal ONLY for confirmed addresses)money saving my @rse.
I've spent 10x as much as I would if I had never discovered this website :-)

Believe me, I have had it in big bold red font at the top, bottom of the listings and in the payment instructions that if paying by paypal - confirmed addresses only!
But buyers still give unconfirmed addresses. Then I refund their payments minus the ebay fees I have incurred, which gets their noses up and I start getting snotty emails all because they cant read.
Through no fault of my own, i end up jepordising my feedback score.
Ive asked paypal and ebay, and just keep getting a pre-prepared test pasted into their replies which dont help. They preach on about trade safely, but they dont seem to make that easy.
Thats why I ask if anyone knows if there is a way so as people cannot checkout when theyve won on one of my listings and use paypal to pay with an unconfirmed address?0 -

I deal with these situations by:-
1. Checking on www.192.com that the person named is at that address (not foolproof)
2. Giving them a call and check them out.
3. If still unsure ask them to pay by bank transfer.
Nothing in life is 100% safe and if you trade on EBay you must accept some risk, minimising that risk is the knack.0 -
