renting to council

Hi,
We have a small one-bed flat in London. When we moved we decided to rent it out. We had three/four private tenants, all single guys - one or two kept it in a nice condition, however the last couple absolutely wrecked the place. We had to completely re-decorate. Once it was nice again, we decided to rent it to the council, they offered us the same amount (if not slightly more) than we would of got renting into the private sector again. The same young man has been in the property for the last two years, at he keeps it immaculate. I real credit to him. Just goes to show that you can have problems with private renters as well. If we did have a problem the council would resolve it anyway, plus we get paid on time each month as the cheque comes direct from the council. I would never swap to private renters again!
Hope this helps0
