Samsung D900 buttons not working!

This is my daughter's phone and most of the buttons - left, right up & down are not working so she can't access her texts etc. off the home page and menu. The phone is practically unusable. Any ideas why this is and is there a solution?

All help appreciated :)

Leave the phone switched on, take the battery off, leave it off for about 30 seconds and then put back together and power on. Its called a hard reset and will sometimes resolve this. (and it won't hurt the phone).

Have had my d900i about 2years now, and the buttons are only just starting to not work, particularly on the right. Will try this for mine too :) thanks Jon 01

Good luck, this works if the phone not been switched off for along time. Its almost like a buffer gets filled up and the reset clears it..

if that doesnt work, then it sounds like the flex cable (linking the 2 parts of the phone together) may need a replacement as it gets worn out after so much opening and closing the phone.

More likely as the top half of the slide wobbles now! Didn't make any difference turning it off and on, but in the throws of finding a replacement anyway so hopefully wont keep it long now anyway :)

Thanks Jon - I've tried this but it didn't work - any other ideas? BTW, this is a new phone so it's not like the buttons have worn out :(

OK, if its new take it back. If that didn't work it must be a hardware fault and that should be covered in the guarantee.
