Filo Pastry Recipes

Hi,
I have just found 3 packs of filo pastry in the freezer and my husband tells me he doesn't really like the taste of it . Are there any recipes which might make it better for him? Main meals or puddings would be great - but not that fussy (unlike hubby)
thanks very much

Use it to top fish pie, put the layers alternately so you get pointy edges.
Or make mince pies - thats what we would use it for
Or make jammy turnovers & serve with custard :drool:0 -
lemon curd tartlets, using a muffin tray, grease the bun holes (lol) layer up small squares of pastry, about 4-5 for each one, blind bake for 5-10 minutes (use rice or baking bens in a little foil parcel pushed into the middle of each pastry layering) take out and add the lemon curd (or jam) and bake for another few minutes,
i like to turn them into lemon meringues by getting some ready made meringues (easy enough to make your own but i never have enough egg whites spare) and plonk one on top as soon as they come out of the oven

I've taken some filo out of the freezer hoping to do spring rolls, but now not sure if filo is the right thing to use
and I don't want to refreeze the now thawed filo.
I'm looking for suggestions of what to do with it so it's not wasted.
Any ideas much appreciated.

Hi Laura,
Salmon en croute and cheese and leek tarts are the only things I've ever used it for but there are some ideas on this earlier thread:
Filo Pastry Recipes
and there are lots of sweet and savoury recipes on the BBC food website

I have used it as a topping for chicken pie , i ' crumpled ' the sheets to give it height brushed with oil , it worked really well0

Filo is the right thing to use - at least, it's what I'd use. Other suggestions - samosas (simple filling - peas, potatoes, onions and garam masala), apple strudel, or go all Middle Eastern and try your hand at baklava, or borek - both utterly delicious, each in its own way.0

apple turnovers, fruit tartlets, vegetable pies, spinach and cheese pie (greek dish sorry being lazy can't remember correct term.) similar to vegetable spring roll but with choppedd nuts and syrup. What I usually do with leftover pieces is to sprinkle sugar and cinnamon then either fry or oven them great little biscuits.0

You could make any kind of filo parcel your heart desires with that! Yum. Stewed fruit, cheese, vegetable, meat... Great opportunity to make something up. Get creative!0
