Ps3 SUCCESS

Just to give everyone a heads up:

I bought a PS3 when it first came out and its been great - never had a single problem. Until i was forced to update the system software to 2.52 Straight away i was having problems and it just flashed as oppose to turned on.
I persisted and tried to reset the system etc and it died.

I called Sony who said because its out of warranty they wouldn't do anything. I told them it was fine until they gave out an update and they basically said prove it.

I have started legal action against them and have over 600 other UK PS3 owners who have all experienced the same problem (found on official PS3 forums) Each have been met with the same 'unlucky' stance from Sony. If anyone from here has experienced the same trouble (please no timewasters trying it on) and your system genuinely died after the update PM me your details.

I have a US 60 gig PS3. But most of the people who have contacted me have the UK PS3 40/60/80 so all systems are at risk.

It was released about 2 weeks ago. The initial problems started after 2.50 and i held out hoping that Sony would release a further update to rectify any problems. This came in the form of 2.51 which for me did nothing, then 2.52 came out and finally finished my PS3 off. The following day i called them and was given the brush off. I posted a thread on the official PS3 forum and within 5 days had over 600 people with the same/similar problems and all of whom gave a personal explanation of the problems faced and their contact details.
I emailed Sony explaining that i had a huge amount of people who too had the same problems and again they brushed it off.

Friday just gone i started legal action against SCEE Ltd after 3 refusals to accept they have caused the problems and after unwillingness to rectify any problems. I asked the PS3 owners who had problems to give the total cost they paid for their system, the average amount works out at £311. There are 621 people which amounts to approx £19,000 worth of PS3's no longer working due to an update provided by Sony.

The bizarre thing is that Sony will repair any system still under warranty - but none that are past it.

The problem is there is a wall which the consumer cannot penetrate.

My threats of legal action and support of the hundreds of PS3 owners fell on deaf ears. The Times will be carrying this story within the next couple of days so i have thus far achieved national recognition. As far as i am aware there is also legal action pending in Norway due to the same problems. Sony seem to assume that if their update were to blame it would effect all systems indiscriminately. This is clearly not the case.
