    I've been Money Tipped!
How about the lake district, boats on lake windermere and great scenery, as well as stately homes.

I took mine to Stratford a few years ago - beautiful town surrounded by beautiful villages and countryside.

Isn't the advice to get extra insurance as EEC card only very basic?

Hope you have a lovely time and treat yourselves a lot.:D

I always tend to get travel insurance too. I've used the Post Office the last two times I've been away.

I love to travel as much as I can when I can
Life has a way to test you, it's how you deal with this that matters
  • Hi
Thanks for even more replies, i know that the e111 card covers you but as said it is only basic cover and if my mum does get ill we are still abroad, where as in this country i can drive her to the hospital or home.

Thanks andyrules i will look into stratford as well.

Or you could take the Eurostar to Paris, Brussels or Bruges
    Great idea!

If you want to stay in the U.K. though, I can seriously recommend Chatsworth House, especially when they have prom nights in the grounds. Everyone takes picnics and there's a huge fireworks display.

  • I second Chatsworth, beautiful buildings, beutiful gardens, stunning scenery.
  • Warwick is supposed to be nice.
  • Hi there Hulagirl79! :-)

I can understand why you and your mum would prefer to be closer to home and stay in this country. However, if you are staying in the UK because of travel insurance, then let me tell you that it is possible to arrange cover for those with pre-existing medical conditions, and there are a number of insurers who specialise in this.

You will find more information in this useful article about medical travel insurance.

    Enjoy your travelling!
I fancy my chances on deal or no deal! ;)
  • Hi
Thanks ratbag for your reply, we have looked into getting insurance from two companys who specialise in insurance for people with medical problems.
The two quotes we got were over £500 each for 4 days in paris of £ for a week in prague, which is why we have decided to stay in this country.

    I have now booked a gorgeous b & b in cambridge for 3 nights.
She is so happy and excited already [ itt was meant to be a surprise but i got too excited]

Thanks for everyone's help and advice.

Hope you have a great time, Cambridge is lovely - remember London only 1 hour no changes if you fancy a matinee or more serious shopping!
