The Mark Hills do look good and are half price at the moment (& have triple points)
Are these the ones recommended?

If you know an Avon rep you can buy them for £12.95 including 2 botttles of shampoo. My daughter bought them earlier in the year and shes thinks they are great. They are Remington and are worth about £30.0

In my experience the ghd straighteners are the best and cheaper ones are a false economy. I bought 3 cheaper pairs of straighteners before buying ghds and I am amazed at the difference. I found the cheaper straighteners straightened my hair initially but throughout the day my hair did not stay straight, with ghds it does. In my opinion if your wife has asked for ghds she will be very disappointed with a cheap copy.
This is my exact same opinion of straighteners, I too have had/got between myself and two daughters 3 pairs and mine are by far the best (GHDs) .. Guess who's keep going missing only to be found in the girls room? lol
GHDs hold my hair all day even when I'm all hot and sticky in the heat, usually my hair would go frizzy after a while when using the cheaper ones.
I wouldn't suggest buying any steam straighteners either, they are useless.0 -
GHDs are pretty unreliable though, they were featured on Watchdog as they kept blowing up. My wifes' did the same thing and exploded right by her face :o
GHD replaced no questions asked because of the adverse publicity I think.

She ended up buying the Mark Hills from Boots when they were half price and reckons they're BETTER than GHD.
That was over a year ago now, .... they have fixed the problem. My GHDs are a year old and used many times every day and still working fine (just watch me eat my words tomorrow) :-[
