Halifax and Bank of Scotland - count as one institution?

For the FSA £50k guarantee, do they count as one - as suggested on Matrin's table below - or are they separate as was suggested on one thread?

They are the same colour (and not white!!).
One institution, along with Birmingham Midshires, AA, Saga etc.
