Dunno what this lot would do but if a debtor I was dealing with back in the day didn't have ample goods to seize and pay off the debt and/or was unable (or unwilling, of course!) to make a reasonable arrangement to pay off the debt, then I'd return the warrant of distress to the court as "nulla bona", which is a fancy term that means they can't pay the debt and don't have ample assets to seize for it.If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0

Depending on how long you ignored it and what exactly has gone on, I can easily see it reaching that amount.
I processed a case against a large retailler who may have been based on the hertfordshire/essex border once where some idiot in their finance department did everything possible not to co-operate with anyone at all and by the time i'd visited and they'd kept me waiting for ages and royally hacked me off into the bargain the debt they had to settle to avoid me having most of their head office kiaded onto a truck and taken away came to about 10 times the original amount they failed to pay in settlement of a bill.
I had fun that day.flaminghot wrote: »if not paid will it go back to court without bailiffs added fees?
Can't remember if fees were included when I did it. Don't think so.flaminghot wrote: »and also wont they call a lock smith?
Read what I said about peaceable entry. A locksmith isn't peaceable entry.
Don't play games with these guys if bailiffs do attend though, they've been collecting debts for longer than you've been dodging them. Don't open the door to them at all, speak to them via the letterbox or an upstairs window - and close it when you've done.
You do need to think about how you are going to settle the debt. Whatever happens with the bailiffs, it isn't going to go away.If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -

Probably no-one you can phone on a Sunday. You could try speaking to the court that issued the warrant (Northampton CC?).
As for charges, even if the bailiff charges are dropped, you'll find the various fees for court costs and so on are quite large enough by themselves. Sorry. If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -
flaming hot, is it not possible to sell your car and just pay up, surely for your own peace of mind this would be better in the long run and all the hassle would stop.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
