Windows firewall (Even vistas) is considered bad
Id recommend SUNBELT (the other 2 main ones are COMDODO and ZONEALARM)

Thanks again for the advice IF i download and use Sunbelt as you suggest,should I switch off the windows firewall??

I just looked at the sunbelt firewall and its only a free trial version,what happens after that or would I be better using Comdodo OR should I stay clear of any free offers and buy the full version.

The trial version is fine as it reverts to the free version after 30 days

Having now completed most of the tasks,I'm still a little bit confused about what should be running on 'start up' and also what needs to be kept running all the time for protection from viruses,spyware etc.

Having made the above changes I can't sign in to my hotmail account,it doesn't even load the page,everything else seems to be running fine,any idea's what may be the cause.

must be the live 'sign in' helper
You didnt completely uninstall it did you? I just ment to stop it from starting up
