Yes you do. You can connect a normal phone to the Livebox and use it to make free calls to 01/02/03 landlines and Orange mobiles. It also has its own phone number so you can receive calls on it. This may be an 0845 number by default but it can be changed to a normal 01/02 landline number in the account centre, making it cheaper for people to call.

I think the free calls are subject to a fair use policy of something like 3000 minutes per month.

On the downside it doesn't always present a caller ID to the person I call, so some people just see 'Unknown caller' or similar, and call quality isn't quite as good as a proper landline but is perfectly usable.

Customer service from the Indian call centres is virtually non-existent but they recently announced that they are moving this work back to the UK.

When it works its fine but if you have problems the service is terrible and leaving them is a real pain. http://www.orangeproblems.co.uk has several thousand posts of complaints. I was with Orange and am now very happy with o2. Orange continued to charge me after I left them but I did et my money back after 2 phone calls. They then sent me a letter welcoming me and a new Livebox! Since sending that back to them I've hear nothing so hoepfully they have finally removed me from their system.
  • thanks for replies

i should maybe check the isp review website to see what kind of feedback people give for orange

can anyone offer any feedback about how they find orange as a provider

    thanks
  • i have a livebox, recently we had a power surge and the box was damaged i contacted orange offering to pay for a new box, they instead sent me a new box free and contacted me 3 days after it arrived to see if id configured it ( i could'nt do it) so she talked me through it. So i have nothing but good things to say about them. all this and because i have a £35 a month phone contract my broadband with orange is FREE ( although im not sure its free now).
Orange have been fine with me and i have never had any problems with them.
