ETA: (sorry, couldn't edit post for some reason)...
Minor whiplash injuries usually take a good few hours (and often overnight) to come on - like aches and pains after exercising. If he's in such significant pain almost immediately, I trust you told your doc this? It could be something serious. I would be especially worried if he'd suffered such injuries in a minor shunt.0 -
Rant Start.
I hate posts like this. 10mph for christs sake.
My mum was in a 60mph head on in a poxy Ford Ka. The car folded up and the clutch pedal took a divot out of her leg. She broke both legs, tibia and fibula in 4 places, broke both feet, fractured her pelvis, punctured a lung, broke 3 ribs, shattered her left knee. 21 hours in surgery to rebuild her. She spent 3 months in hospital.
She was cut out of the car after 2 hours and airlifted to hospital.
It wasn't her fault.
We are in year 3 of the compensation claim. She might get £50k if she's lucky. Scant compensation for all the pain she has been through and will have to live with. She can barely walk. We're going to have to heavily modify the house or even move as she gets older.
I will never forget seeing her in A&E, spaced out on the painkillers, hooked up to all manner of equipment.
So your 10mph "bump" oh woe is us, damaged some paintwork, ooh quick sue someone make some quick money. I can run faster than 10mph for god's sake.
Sorry, but get real. It can be much, much, much worse.

U... you might find yourself being prosecuted for fraud.
I only wish it were the case that more people were prosecuted for insurance fraud (not that I am suggesting the OP is a fraudster). Unfortunately, no-one is that interested. The police and CPS see it as victimless crime mostly, unless they're interested in the perpetrators for other stuff such as drugs or money laundering.0 -
It's very hard to disprove injury claims for low speed impacts - visit your GP or hospital and bingo - there is the proof that you were injured!
Insurers are getting together to try and prove that injuries can't be caused at less than 10 mph but I don't know how far they havee progressed with that.0 -
can a car even get to 10 in a car park?Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?0

It's generally accepted that over about 5mph, injuries can occur. But 10mph in reverse from a standing start is very fast.0
