Remember guys, just because you see a whopping 12mb pixel camera at say £100, doesn't mean it's nessessarily better than a 7mb pixel camera at the same price
do some reseach, ask in the forums, visit sites like dcresource.com for reviews.

Thanks for that info.
I've just had an email from Aldi, they have a digital camera for £69.99 and SD cards for £4.99 this Thursday.
Can someone take a look at the ad and tell me if it's any good please?

I would not touch a camera out of Aldi, you would be better going for a known make of camera. I like Fuji camera's myself, so have a look at fuji you can pick one up for about the price you would be paying for the one from Aldi.
Something like this http://www.jessops.com/online.store/categories/Cameras%20and%20Lenses/Digital%20Compact%20Cameras/products/Fujifilm/Finepix%20J12%20(Blue)%20Digital%20Camera-74282/Show.html

Jessops are extortionate. Even when on sale you can still get it cheaper else where!0

Yes, i agree do not be flumaxed by '7millions pixels' the pixel capacity is all well and good if you are into blowing up and photo manipulation.
The quality of a camera is all about 'Lens quality' and good makes such as 'Canon, fujifilm, etc, household names are to be researched.
Lots of plastic lenses out there despite the 10million pixel quality claims.
You can get a cracking second hand fujifilm camera with 2 million pixels for less than £30 on auction sites.0 -

I only said something like this, no need to buy it from Jessop's. It was only an example.
Anyway can you find the camera any cheaper from a reputable shop?
When I buy stuff on the net I won't necessarily buy from the cheapest retailer, I consider, known retailer, customer service, easy returns then price. I would rather pay a little more for an item knowing I am dealing with a reputable retailer, rather than just going with the cheapest & getting taken in by cheap prices. There has been a lot of people on these forums going with an unknown retailer because it was cheap & not receiving the goods ordered.

I think Amazon have the Canon A590IS for under £80 now.0

Hi Sal
I've just bought the pink one from Aldi, and am very impressed so far. There is an after sales support line and a 3 year warranty as well. I love the butterfly crystal design which swung it for me as well as the 8mp and the decent price.0 -
OK, I've recently bought a digi camera for my wife.
I signed up to Which? and must confess I was REALLY disappointed with their digital camera reviews. Seemed to be out of date and very subjective.
I ended up buying a Nikon S520 and it is an excellent camera. I've got an Olympus which is much more expensive and the Nikon takes much better pictures. It all depends what you want I guess. Nikon is very much point and shoot with some good additional features but I thoroughly recommend it.0 -

Makro have the Sony Cybershot DSCS730 for £49.99 + VAT this week, if there's one near you.
It has 7.2Mp, 2.4" screen, 3x optical zoom, 22Mb internal memory.
I'm not an expert but it sounds good for a cheap one!0
