Hi

I have been trying to get a new nokia 6230i to use with my 3 contract.

I didn't manage to get a good priced one on ebay, but found one at Dial a phone

http://www.dialaphonepp.co.uk/kelkoo/offer_details.aspx?oc=PPO205111C

The question is:

It's a pay as you go, so if I buy it and unlock it, would I be able to use it with my three contract.

Sorry for my ignorance and thanks for any replies.
Cheers

Zino

  • I don't believe the Nokia 6230i is 3G enabled - therefore it'll not work on 3.
  • No I think you are right declanmcc, I don't think it is 3G enabled, so I would hate for you to waste your money. They are an excellent phone, and if you were going to use it on an ordinary network then it's a good phone to have, and if you are on a contract then they are starting to give them away now.

the latest motorola raz phone is excellent on 3G, I've seen it in action, a friend of mine has one.

  • yea, they are both right. Also, to clarify amateur_saver's post, it is not a normal motorola V3 Razr phone that will work on the 3 network. It has to be a Motorola V3X model.

    A Moto V3i is an updated V3. A V3X is a 3G version of a V3
  • thanks for the clarification maninwhitecoat, as I didn't make myself particularly clear. Having one of those days !

AFAIK if you put a 3 sim in a normal phone it will connect to the O2 network (just like 3 phones do when out of signal); which will wind up 3 (as it costs them to use O2's network) and they will cancel your contract.

It almost certainly won't even connect to the o2 network, as the Sim cards are different, and not compatible with 2g phones
