Loadsa Clothes!

Not sure if this is the right board to be posting on, I guess someone will direct me to the right place if not...

I have loads of clothes that don't fit me anymore and although it would be nice to give them to charity I also could do with some money!

I have tried selling some on ebay but none of them sold, any ideas where I can sell them?

Is there a for sale board on here anywhere for example?

Thanks! ;)

  • Have you tried putting them in a bundle on Ebay instead of individual listing? I have found they sell better this way!

You could try advertising in your local paper- mine has a classifieds section where you can put free ads.

I had thought about doing this, what should I bundle together? I have bought a couple of things this way but didn't know what I should put together, a whole outfit or a couple of tops etc...

  • hi, it depends wether or not your clothes are designer, e.g. miss sixty, hooch, dior, gucci etc. they get top dollar and can be sold alone. put the rrp value in the title along with (if theyre in good nick) 'as new' because that way youll get all teh people who search under 'new' looking at your item even though its used!
good nick high street stuff, e.g. marks and sparks, new look, top shop etc. can be sold in bundles of about ten for a good price. do a mixed bundle of clothes, but all in teh same size and call it a 'job lot' in the title.
    good luck!

:A Well why don't you do a car boot sale in your local area. Where I live there are loads of them advertised in the local paper. I, myself, have loads of stuff that I need to get rid of (as they say, one persons junk is another persons treasure!) as I have recenty moved house and lots of the stuff that I have bought for the house just won't go now! I also have lots of clothes to sell which I will be taking with me. I have bought two cheap clothes racks to take with me to display the clothes and will be asking friends; etc. to give me any hangers they might have lying about. Could this idea help you?

Don't do a car boot! People will haggle and want stuff for 25p! It isn't worth it!

Re-liist them on eBay as "vintage", "unique" or "rare", you'll be surprised how many new bidders they'll attract!

Ha, have you met me at boot sales then? ;)
I've sold at car boot sales occasionally (if I had a car of my own I'd do it more often), and I've often found clothes hard to sell, but maybe that's because I have no clothes rails on which to display them.
For eBay, anything dating from the 1990s or earlier can be categorised as "vintage", and may thus be eaiser to sell than if it were merely secondhand! For selling in job lots, I'd group by size, style and weight: a parcel of 1.5 kg - under 2kg costs £4.97 to post, whereas if you slightly exceed 2kg it will cost £7.20, so I'd get the kitchen scales out. I would avoid using the word "unique" (which Chris 120A suggested) unless it's actually true. As a customer, I'd be put off if I found a modern mass-produced item described as unique. "Rare" is a much safer description, since its defintion is less precise, and it's still an appealing word from the customer's viewpoint.

:snow_grin Okay then. Car boot sales are obviously not very popular here but surely if you want to get rid of the clothes and have other stuff to sell at the same time (and you fancy a new experience) then I believe a car boot is the best way to go!! I'LL be doing one regardless!!
