There are 3 rates of DLA.
The lower rate gives no increase to TC
.
Wrong. I've got an award notice in my hand that says it does. Recently notified them of my son being awarded lower rate care. £1503.36 to be exact for a 216 day period or £2540 a year.
I no longer receive DLA at all but get the disability component despite this because of the restrictions my condition places on me with working.0 -
DLA Lower & Middle rate care components mean you would qualify for the disabled element.
DLA Higher CARE (not mobility) component means you qualify for the severe disability element.0 -

Apologies. There is something that can be claimed for the other 2 but not the lower rate, I remembered the wrong one.0 -

If you only recently received the letter you have called "within 3 months of the change". The change being that you just got awarded the DLA.
As long as you notify TCO within 3 months the adviser CAN backdate more than 93 days. It is the only time where they can over-ride the 93 days backdating.
right I rang the tco this morning, the lady I spoke to said That under no circumstances can anyone in the entire building(her words, lol) backdate my claim further than 93 days, she said that I should be thankful I got the 93 days, and she doesnt think, that even going to appeal will change this.In her opinion.
Ive said I still want to go ahead with this,I asked to spk to someone else and she said that it wouldnt change anything, and ddi I not believe her,I said that I did ,but maybe she wasnt fully aware of my circumstances around only just having recived notification, she was very abrupt, but not offensive.
She said that she could see my circumstances and there was nothing else I can do ,then sked if there was anything else, and bid me bye bye.
so suppose I can only fill out the appeal forms, but Im not holding out much hope now,but it is such an awful lot of money that could have been mine.
If I/S were to have paid it they would have bk dated till the begining,so I dont see the difference really.just because it from a different office?.
anyhow thankyou to all who have helped.x0
