Also, what is the correspondence specifically regarding?

OP states it regards overdraft. I am also receiving regular (every three months I'd say) letters confirming and reconfirming changes to my overdraft with HSBC, each one saying it replaces the previous. I understand there are numerous changes, and i understand it is my responsibility to read the letters in full, however it is starting to get annoying and rather too frequent.
  • If they are concerning changes to your overdraft, I would imagine that these are to agree unauthorised limits..

Again, these are legal requirements and im sure that you would be peeeed off if you didnt receive them.

They are all regarding my overdraft limits. My preferences state online only, although I understand they must send these letters, although I've received about 8 in the last 2 months now. All with accompanying leaflets and about 20 pages of reading (exageration, but still lots to take in).

  • Overdraft limits. Right. That's kind of vague.

    - How many accounts do you have with HSBC with overdraft limits?
    - Have you been over any of them?
    - Have you formally increased, decreased or cancelled any of them recently?
    - Have any been reviewed?
    - Do the letters mention a specific change in the terms and conditions of your overdraft facility?

I have one account which until today had a £100 OD limit, changed the limit twice recently and had confirmation delivered by e-message rather than mail, no review, no T&Cs changes, not been over my limit.

    - How many accounts do you have with HSBC with overdraft limits? 1
    - Have you been over any of them? No
    - Have you formally increased, decreased or cancelled any of them recently? No
    - Have any been reviewed? Yes, they keep reviewing my one and only accounts overdraft limit
    - Do the letters mention a specific change in the terms and conditions of your overdraft facility? Not really, they say the amount has changed each time, but infact it is the same amount, I think they may keep putting the interest rate on it up each of the eight times I've had the letter, maybe to somehow reverse-psychologically 'encourage' me to go into it?

I have one account which until today had a £100 OD limit, changed the limit twice recently and had confirmation delivered by e-message rather than mail, no review, no T&Cs changes, not been over my limit.

I wonder if the OP is in similar situation to myself or yourself...

  • I am convinced that these letters are to nofity of agreed informal limits.. Pop into the branch and they will be able to print all the copies of the letters that have been sent to you and explain the reasson behind them..

Just out of the box though.. are they all addressed to you? is it a rented property? have you reecently moved?
