Exactly. Simply use ethernet. Then it doesn't matter what OS as long as the router can give you an IP via dhcp. I'm on O2 with Madriva 2009 linux. Plug and play.
if you are interested in mobile broadband then any that use a hauwei e220 (like 3 althoght they have gone downhill) should work with a mac since there are native linux drivers. Indeed the nice folks at Vodaphone release their drivers adn desktop froont end for all OS's. You dont neet to go via vodafone but simply use their utility.

Just to clarify. I use OSX 10.4.11 and normally use the ethernet cable supplied with the modem. I have used the wireless facility but it is slower. Friends have also used the wireless facility with their PCs. All with almost no problems with Talk talk.0
